It's a Wonderful Life wins.

Well I'll give you this. You guys are consistent. Posted Image I figured with different voters we might have a different outcome, but our final pits the winners of the past two years against each other:

A Christmas Story vs. It's a Wonderful Life

I'll leave this one up until Tuesday morning.
"Movies should be like amusement parks. People should go to them to have fun." - Billy Wilder

"Subtitles good. Hollywood bad." - Tarzan, Sight & Sound 2012 voter.

"My films are not slices of life, they are pieces of cake." - Alfred Hitchcock"My great humility is just one of the many reasons that I...

A Christmas Story

" Deck the halls with boughs of horry, ra ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra".

For ordinary men, it's a burning, fiery furnace.

Well, this is certainly easy. One of my all-time favorites vs. a movie I loathe.

[quote] a movie I loathe [quote]

Why do you loathe A Christmas Story Martin?

Although I have heard of a few people not caring for it, I don't think I have ever heard of anyone loathing it. Of course, most people love it, as evidenced by it being in the final round for (I believe...George can confirm) the last three years of this contest.

For ordinary men, it's a burning, fiery furnace.

The humor just doesn't resonate with me, but that alone doesn't make it hateworthy... 1) Excessive narration in movies often bugs me, but ESPECIALLY when it's that kind of nostalgic Garrison Kiellor/Stand By Me/Wonder Years shit. 2) Peter Billingsley annoys me to death. I've hated him ever since "Real People".

Well, I actually agree with the excessive narration part in principal....it rarely works well in movies. However, I must say that Christmas Story is the exception, due to the other thing that you mention....the nostalgic "shit"! Hey, it's a Christmas movie....nostalgic should almost be expected! As for Billingley, virtually every person I know who doesn't care for this movie (there aren't many) says the same thing....Billingley really annoys them. I admit that his stint on Real People didn't help, and I wonder if you and others would have been as annoyed with him if he never appeared on that show.
