Patrick,

You listed 6 movies for 1925 and the Gold Rush wasn't one of them? I've had people disagree with me that it's the best silent film ever made, but I never before heard anyone say there were 6 better silent films just in that one year. :)

I see you have Best Picture Academy Award winner Unforgiven for your 1992 pick. ;)

Well it was off the top of my head. And Unforgiven was a great movie, and not at all a bad choice (surprisingly). But I guess I'd replace it with Aladdin (which has become retrospectively bashed quite a bit around here, but remains one of the best of the Disney films, IMO).

F**k! How could I forget Dune (1984)? Don't answer that. :)

Good one, Steve. Despite its flaws, one of my favorite guilty pleasures of all time. I must have watched this film once a month for the first 3 or 4 years after it was released to home video. Never did manage to snag the Japanese LD version, and I can't seem to recall if I had the MCA Universal widescreen LD or not.

- Walter.

:) Dune is my ultimate guilty pleasure Walter. No one seems to like it, even the director. And I've watched it countless times.:b

George:

I've only seen the 1942 re-release of The Gold Rush. It's enjoyable, but it's not one of my favorites. My view may change when I purchase the MK2-WHV DVD of the '25 version.
