It's a DOUBLE-QUOTE week! :D

Professor of archeology, expert on the occult, and...how does one say it? Obtainer of rare antiquities. (quote from Raiders of the Lost Ark)

Ten thousand light-years from nowhere, our planet shot to pieces, people starving, and I'M gonna get us in trouble? (quote from Battlestar Galactica)

[c] [/c]

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definate price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including. In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. I have a lovely wife and a five-year-old son I'd rather spend time with. Please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

* BE CAREFUL! The Adventures of Indiana Jones (and 28 Days Later, too) is available in both Widescreen and Fullscreen versions...get the correct one. "See What You've Been Missing: SEE IT IN WIDESCREEN!" :)

* Best Buy: Indiana Jones purchasers can get a free bonus DVD that consists of a 10-minute set of behind-the-scenes footage that was taken from the same source material as the behind-the-scenes footage on the box set's "4th DVD" supplement disc. Presumably this is different material than what is on the "4th DVD" supplements.

* Best Buy: Purchase Charlie's Angels - Superbit Edition and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle on a deal of 2 DVDs for $25.

* Best Buy: Save $10 instantly with purchase of Dark Angel Season 1 and Season 2 on the same transaction.

* Best Buy: Free $20 gift card instantly with purchase at the same time of The Dick Van Dyke Show Season 1 and Season 2. You should verify that this is happening, though; let's just say that I've tested it and the register doesn't automatically bring up the gift card offer. If this happens to you, just show the ad and ask for the gift card; it will be issued with no problem.

* NOTE: The Dick Van Dyke Show comes with coupons that allow you to send off for a $20 mail-in rebate when you buy both seasons. The above offer from Best Buy is IN ADDITION to the mail-in offer, for sure. The copies BB are selling are clearly marked that they have the ability to get the mail-in rebate. That's a net price of $34.99 each, boys and girls. Irrestistable for this fantastic show!

* Both Best Buy and Circuit City mention in their ads that copies of Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2 now come with a free 20-minute DVD with scenes from Scary Movie 3.

* Circuit City: Save $3 instantly with purchase of both the Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle DVD and that film's CD soundtrack.

* Target: Get a free 12-pk of Dr. Pepper with your purchase of The Adventures of Indiana Jones

* Costco: There are a large selection of 2-packs of Paramount films that sell for $19.99 for both films. An example is Patriot Games/A Clear And Present Danger. None of the combinations are bad at all (except that I already have most of these films from earlier purchases). These 2-packs come with a $10-off coupon good for The Adventures of Indiana Jones. Combined with the low Costco price, this comes to a final price of $32.99!

* Eckerds Drugs: There are multiple reports that Eckerds Drug stores (which aren't in every market, and certainly not in my town :frowning: ) are advertising The Adventures of Indiana Jones for $34.99! The may only end up stocking the full-screen version. If they do, you should be able to take their ad to a competitor and get a price match, so you can get the wide-screen version.

Thanks, Dave! I'm probably only getting the Indy box set this week (Christmas gift for myself). I have $7 in Best Buy fry bucks, and will hopefully finally get my $5 Reward Zone coupon that I earned about a month or two ago. Either way, I'll be paying less than $40 for it at Best Buy.

Does anyone know if Wal-mart, K-mart, or FYE's pricematch? I picked up the flyer from Eckerd today, but the aforementioned stores are the only ones with 1 1/2 hours of me that I could pick up Indy at. Thanks!

For SoCal customers, Fry's has Indy as "best price" and has an arrow pointing (seriously, "best price" is inside the arrow and it points) to Dark Angel Season 2 which is advertised for $39.99. So this is no guarantee that Indy will be $39.99 but it's kinda odd that the arrow points right to Dark Angel which does have that price.

Since it is many miles to a nearby Fry's, and I live across the street from a Best Buy, I'll be buying it there (and for the exclusive BB disc). But for those near a Fry's and not caring for the BB disc, that might be the place to go.

Oh and one more thing: I know we don't normally put online sales in this thread, as the whole point is finding the best B&M experience, but I highly recommend that someone interested in buying Dragonslayer do a www.dvdpricesearch.com for it as I was able to get it for under $10 shipped from deepdiscountdvd.

How did Circuit City, home of high-priced box sets, come up with a lower price than anyone else on the Battlestar Galactica set? Somebody must have hit the wrong key ...

Just so everyone doesn't overspend, Captain Kronos is $5.98 at Deep Discount Dvd, as is Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell.
