My TV doesn't support progressive scan DVD players (TV is JVC D Series purchased in fall 2001). My DVD player has progressive scan.

Thus when connecting them is using component video cables a waste and should I just stick with S-Video? If so I am screwed since I only have one S-Video input used for Cable box/TV connection and this forces me to go with component cables regardless. Basically I am asking just out of curiousity since I seem to have no choice to get the DVD/TV connection.

No, Andre, use the component-video outputs always (assuming your standard-def TV has them). Simply select the player's interlaced output.

You should be fine. Just don't get sucked into spending big $$ on wires. Basic radio shack, or AR wires do fine. $30-$50 probably, max.
