Hooray! Finally my favorite "sports" movie (and, undoubtedly, the funniest horse racing movie ever made) is coming to DVD on 9/18/01!
My LD of Let It Ride is so shopworn that you can practically see through it when holding it up to the light.

If you are not familiar with this movie (and especially if you have ever dabbled in "the ponies") you owe it to yourself to get this disc!
Jennifer Tilly in the red dress is worth the price of admission by itself!
(And I went to school with the guy who plays "Cheeseburger")

Next to What About Bob?, this is my favorite Dreyfuss movie!
Add another title to the pre-order list...

My old LD is about worn out too. VERY good news, one of my favorite comedies!
"Sometimes you can be walking around lucky and not even know it."
Now if WB will ever get Bill Murray's Quick Change onto DVD, I'll be one happy, laughin' son-bitch!

A favorite of mine too.
I second that about Jennifer Tilly's dress. Here cleavage is a character in the film!

I own nearly 800 dvds and more than 600 lasers. Which one do I watch the most? Some big-budget sight and sound extravaganza? One of the classics? No, it's a tossup between Let It Ride and Joe Versus the Volcano. I don't know why, but I can't get enough of either.
So count me as one happy camper also.

alan,
Are you sure we weren't separated at birth

With over 1500 DVD's and over 1700 LD's I'm in total agreement regarding these two movies. Let It Ride has so many great lines ("My legs go all the way from the ground to my ass") and Joe Versus the Volcano was one of those movies that is nutty-cuckoo and didn't deserve the reviews it got. In fact it's my favorite Hanks/Ryan movie (rather than Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail which are nice but not "repeatable" to the extent that the other movies are.)

If we were separated at birth, does that mean I'm in line to inherit your LD/DVD/Home Theater setup? And just where is it you live?

Rafster:
This is great news. I never was able to pick up the laserdisc so I am thrilled to hear it will be available on DVD.
Where did you hear about it?
Am I having a good day or what?!

I pre-ordered it from Digital Eyes. It's on their "just announced" list.

Yep, great movie. I can`t wait to have the DVD. Although I`ll never part with the laserdisc copy I have, but thats because the cover is signed by the one and only Jennifer Tilly.

"I got the horse right here, his name is Paul Revere..." When I hear those words, I think only of Jay Trotter. (Sorry, Mr. Loesser.)
Thanks for finding this, RAF. My LD's getting kinda threadbare too.

I love this film too. It leaves me with a warm feeling whenever I see it. One of RD's better "recent" films.

So you know the somanumbatch who introduced the term "fargin' icehole" into the lexicon?
Yep! Richard Dimitri (aka Dickie Manuel when I knew him back at Yonkers HS, Class of '60) was also the restaurant owner in Johnny Dangerously. Last year, when we had our 40th reunion we tried to get him to attend, but he has disappeared into the bowels of Tinseltown.
Too bad. I love his characters (and over 40 years ago we knew he would be a great character actor.)
You're making me misty-eyed!
