Hi, I have a pair of old ADS L400 speakers that I like very much. While painting the cabinets recently, some newspaper (used for masking) got stuck to the dome tweeter, which has a sticky coating on it for dampening. I tried peeling the paper off carefully with tweezers, and now some of the sticky coating has been peeled off. A small bit of the newspaper also remains and could not be removed thoroughly. I'm wondering if the tweeter is now sonically damaged, or if it's just cosmetic. The tweeter still functions, but perhaps the frequency response isn't as good now as it was previously...I can't tell for sure. If I want to replace the tweeter, how would I go about finding one that's as good as the original and is compatible? Thanks.
