I am in the planning stages right now, I haven’t purchased anything yet. I am new to car audio and looking for decent SQ setup…

I am looking at a Kicker 10” CVR for my sub bass needs. I am looking for a clean and punchy bass that doesn’t get muddy and blurred when playing rock and heavy metal music. I plan on going with a sealed enclosure but I am not sure about the Vb needed.

CVR10 t/s parameters...
SPL 1w/1m 85.6 db, Displacement 75.3 cu in, Revc 7.75 Ohms, Sd 0.0379 SqM, BL 17.65 TM, Vas 1.42 CuFt, Mms 116.29 gms, Fs 33.1 Hz, Qms 8.703, Qes 0.603, Qts 0.564, Pmax 300 watts, Xmax 11.5 mm, Vc 2.0 in, Frequency Response 25-500 Hz.

For a Qtc of 0.707, the Vb is 2.485 ft^3 with a F3 of 41.5 Hz. This should produce a flat response of the sub, right? If I go with a higher Qtc, the Vb will decrease with an increase in SPL but at the cost of SQ.

Is a Qtc 0.707 the ideal compromise to get good SQ and SPL from the sub?

Will the larger Vb reduce the RMS of the sub? I am planning on using a US Acoustics USB 600d with a RMS of 375W at 2 ohms or 250W at 4 ohms and a THD 0.02% at RMS with 12.9 volts.

Will I harm the sub if I wire it to 2 ohms and turn the gain down low? This way I can lower the THD at 300 watts… and not risk clipping the amp

Sorry for the long post,

Thanks,

BobbyK

What kind of car do you have? I am currently using a 10w6v2 in a .80 cuft enclosure which is about a .74 QTC and it sounds great. Remember that when you factor in cabin gain that the bass will extend below the 3db down point on the model
