The Best of 2002 Film Tournament (Part Deux)

Seeing as how I was a bit premature with the first 2002 film tournament (which I started in January no less :D ) I think it's about time for proper go at this.

Qualifying films had to have been released theatrically in the U.S. within 2002.

MASTER LIST

Black Hawk Down
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Punch-Drunk Love
25th Hour

The Grey Zone

Aren't Phone Booth, Irreversible, and 28 Days Later all 2003 films?

I think you're right, Bill. Since it is U.S Released in 2002 for this tournament. May is also one for 2003 releases.

As much as I love Irreversible, I consider it a 2002 film, but it was released in the US in March of 2003. I don't know why Phone Booth is on the list. And was May released in 2002 or 2003?

My auto is Talk To Her

And nominates Y Tu Mama Tambien, it was released in March of 2002.

Yeah, IRREVERSIBLE was released in America this year in March, but I consider it a 2002 film (the best film of 2002 actually), and seeing 28 DAYS LATER and MAY on the list, I nominated it. IRREVERSIBLE is my fifth favorite film of all time, and I didn't feel right not nominating it when it is a 2002 film that was released to the US in 2003. If 28 DAYS LATER and MAY are in (all should be IMO), it should be too.

Well, there is always the Best of 2003 Tournament...

And Black Hawk Down is a 2001 film. It's one of my favorites, but should not be in the tournament according to the guidelines.

I'm fine with whatever Jim wants though.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking that because Black Hawk Down didn't get a wide release until January of 2002 it was eligible. Technically it is a 2001 film.

Jim - If you decide to exclude Black Hawk Down then please replace that choice with Secretary.

OK

I've dumped 28 Days Later, Phone Booth & May (Which are technically 2002 films but didn't get released wide in the States until 2003)

Same for Irreversible.

I'll include Black Hawk Down which was released wide in Jan 02.
