It has to be asked. WHEN will they release all the original HONEYMOONERS episodes?

I still have that huge box set on VHS, but come on now, what is taking so long to release these on DVD?

Althought the lost episodes are on DVD, I prefer to have the originals on DVD.

Unless Paramount changes it's mind again, it has been bumped from the October schedule... so expect it in November.

According to TVLand's Web site, there are around 100 episodes - why is it always 39 I hear?

When they say 39, they mean the full length episodes . All the other episodes were in reality only scetches that appeared as part of the Jackie Gleason show, those episodes in my opinion are not as good as the classic 39.

Easiest way to answer this question...from TVTome.com:

Although The Honeymooners is one of the best remembered comedy highlights of TV's golden age, it was seen for most of its history as a segment within other programs. Oddly enough, the 39 episodes of the independent series were not successful at the time. The Honeymooners was first seen in 1951 as a sketch within DuMont's Cavalcade of Stars, with Pert Kelton originating the role of Alice. When the show moved to CBS as The Jackie Gleason Show Audrey Meadows assumed the role of Alice. In 1955 Gleason wanted a respite from the full-hour live weekly variety show. It was decided to film a full season of half-hour Honeymooners shows. In 1956, after the less-than- anticipated response to The Honeymooners, Gleason returned to a regular variety format. The Honeymooners were presented as part of The Jackie Gleason Show up until its last episode on Sept. 12, 1970.

NOTE: This guide contains all episodes of The Honeymooners as well as the sketches that were part of The Jackie Gleason Show. The Honeymooners ran as its own television series from 1955 to 1956. That will be Season 4 on this guide. The rest are all sketches and TV specials.

Martin, thanks for confirming the date. Switching with Indy, eh? Posted Image

For me, since Indiana Jones, my review discs from Paramount have been showing up rather late. I expect the same is true of other reviewers. I still don't have this set.

I expect to receive it today or Monday.
A review will follow ASAP
