Just to say I've posted about these in the Studio feedback forum. Sorry if this has already been raked over but Fox are planning a 4:3 release of Angel.

The general belief is that it does exist in 16:9 form as Buffy was definitely in w/s by that point.

Joss Whedon has stated that he doesn't really think TV shows need to be widescreen, and that he would prefer they keep the 4:3 frame

They can easily have both by using "dynamic pan and scan". Since the portion we see is the center of the 16x9 frame (right?), the flags shouldn't take up much space, and everyone would be happy.
