Long story short; I'm making a compialtion for a friend who live in Columbus, OH and I want all the songs to be either about Ohio or just mention the state or any Ohio city. The more mentions the better.

I'm just getting started but of course I plan on including Ohio by Neil Young and Cleveland Rocks by Ian Hunter. ANy other suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks,
Paul

One of the early Devo singles (it has the chorus - 'Are we not men - We are Devo', etc. I think it's Jocko Homo, but I wouldn't swear to it). That defintely has a name check for Ohio in it.

There's an instrumental by Uncle Tupelo called "Sandusky".

"Ohio" by Modest Mouse.

"Cleveland is the City" by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

And last but not least, "Expecting" by The White Stripes with the following lyrics:

You sent me to Toledo, Toledo, Toledo...

"Toledo" ("Saturday night in Toledo, Ohio, is like being nowhere at all..."). Written by Randy Sparks, but there's a great version of it by John Denver on the "Evening With..." double-live CD.

If you take all of these suggestions, it's going to be one eclectic CD!! :emoji_thumbsup:

And I forgot to mention "Somewhere in Ohio" by one of my favorite bands, the Jayhawks.

Also, I guess Jewel has a song called "Cleveland".

And you should be able to find a version of "Hang on Sloopy" sung by thousands of drunk Buckeye fans,"O-H-I-O". Although your friend might hear enough of that in Columbus anyway.
