My local EB will be taking pre-orders on October 1st for the Cube. I'll be there on Monday to get my pre-order in so I know I'll definitely have one come Nov. 18th.
Just thought I would share this bit of info in case nobody knew yet.

Thanks for the info, Dean. Hopefully all EB stores will be doing this. If so then I'll be putting my money down next week.

Brian,
I was told that they wouldn't know that information until today or Friday. I am hoping that it will be both.

I wonder if the online retailers will be doing it at this time also? I wonder when places like KB Toys, TRU, etc. will start their preorders.

My local EB (in Cambridge, MA) said that *all* the EBs will be doing preorders starting Monday, October 1st...but still has no info about bundles or prices...

There will be 1.1 million GameCube's available at launch. I don't think you will even need a preorder to get one on launch day.
Even so, I think Nintendo is not forcing retailers to do bundles, so its up to them. MS is asking retailers to do bundles for some of their stock of X-Boxes and then have the rest on the shelves of the day of the launch.

I just went to my EB and they're not taking them Oct 1st. They don't know when they'll be able to. Bummer.

My local EB hasn't heard anything official about taking orders, but says that sounds plausible. Guess I'll check back on Monday...

I called my local EB today, and they reported that the preorder is not in their system yet, but they expect to be able to process orders this week. They took my name and will call me once they have the ability.
They also told me that they think the preorder will be for the system only - with no bundling requirements.
I'll be orderring an extra controller, memory card, and at least 2 games anyway - so it doesn't effect me regardless, but it's nice that the option is there to buy as I wish.

My local EB said they were all ready to do preorders when they were asked to postpone by the corporate office. Apparently no one knows now when EB will be taking preorders for the cube, but one of the guys at mine told me that Toys R Us will begin their preorders tomorrow??

I got my GameCube preorder all taken care of. Heres what all I ordered:
1 Indigo GameCube
1 Memory Card
1 Luigi's Mansion
1 Wave Race: Blue Storm
1 Star Wars Rouge Squadron 2
The guy(he owns a videogame store which is on Nintendo's Direct Channel) who I am getting it from is getting 100 on the 14th, then 80 the next week, and then 60 the following week, and then 40 after that, and then that is it until after Xmas.
Oh....And the best part is I get the 'Cube on Friday the 15th.

Is this an independent, Kelley? From what you've said in the past, it is... If so, that's REALLY good news. Best news I've had all day in fact. If Nintendo are willing to give hard numbers like that to an indy, it bodes well for a launch with lots of machines available.

Nintendo claims to have 1.1 million units available for the launch, plus they are shipping a bunch each following week. If the Japanese launch hints at anything, then we can expect to all get a GameCube at launch, even moreso since there are so many.

You are so lucky its not fair. How much did you pay? By my calculations, that would be around $370. Wow, $370 for a console, 3 games, and a memory card. Thats a pretty damn good deal.

Morgan, I know what Nintendo claimed, I know the numbers they're throwing around - it's all PR nonsense till stores start getting hard cold numbers & machines.
