CBS announced today that Survivor Pearl Islands will premiere on Thursday 9/18, a week earlier than the rest of the schedule, like it did last year. No word on whether it will be 90 minutes like The Amazon premiere was.

Another interesting tidbit is Jeff probst was on E! last week and said 2 big events had already happened in the first 19 days that have never happened before on Survivor. No clues, of course. Any guesses?

Maybe a huge storm (hurricane, monsoon, tornado..) or a hookup between 2 castaways?

Maybe that there are more than 2 black people on the show? Maybe that someone had practiced making fire before they left for the island? :)

When did this start taping? If it was a hurricane, you could always check the NHC site.

Edit: It was not a hurricane, none in that area this season.
My prediction on one of the major events: someone quit.
Just a guess though, not backed by any fact.

I'm big on the cannibalism theory, how about a revolt against their oppressors? Literal war between the tribes?

You may not be far off Jeff. Mark Burnett has stated that the show would play off of the theme of piracy alot, due to the location's history of piracy.

One of the events could have been what Jeff Probst stated, that this time if you lost a reward challenge, your team was punished somehow.

Heh, I am also going to go ahead and agree with the cannbalism theory.

Maybe they reveal "Dirty Little Secrets" about the tribe members and have that polygraph guy from Meet My Folks come down. ;)

Maybe they actually checked out the contestants well enough that there won't be a Smoking Gun story about one of them this time. ;)

I think they should make some sort of elimination show (like Survivor, Big Brother, etc.) where the people voted out are stuck with the other people for the entire duration of the game. Hopefully, they'll do something like that for this season.

Or they could switch out the first persons voted out for other people midway through?

Morgan, the Family on ABC (which they are getting ready to re-air) was like that. The eliminated family members still lived in the house and could win prizes, but could not win the grand prize.

Two more How about a really early merge a couple of episodes in, where individual reward and immunity start happening almost from the get-go, or maybe they can have the tribe that wins immunity vote the castaway off from the other tribe?

That would be interesting, but would they know enough about the other tribe members to decide who to eliminate?

That would be the key of the challenge, judging the other tribe based on the two times you compete against them every three days. It might also be a way to put a little twist on tribal council by having both tribes attend.

If this ever happened, the people to go first would probably be the strongest on each side, since they are biggest threat in any group or individual physical challenge.
