Using Ceiling Speakers with EX Surround (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I have a question regarding the use of ceiling speakers and the EX back surround channel. Since I will be using ceiling speakers for the RS and LS located above the main seating area, would it be beneficial to use a third BS ceiling speaker as well? Ideally it would be better to place the BS speaker on the back wall, but room configurations won't permit this. I recently read that Surround EX won't make much of a difference if using ceiling mounted speakers. Is this true?

Any insight would be appreciated!

Hi George,

I don't think there's any problem with a ceiling mount for a rear EX surround - especially if the other choice is no rear surround at all. So long as you place this speaker well behind the side surrounds, you should experience an enhancement in surround sound quality.

Regards,
Terry
