QKTheatre.com had the following news item today:

[quote] VHS & DVD: According to Robert Culpepper (AKA EagleEyeJoe), DVDs with episodes from the first season of Sunbow's G.I.Joe series will be released on October 28. [quote]
I don't if it this is valid, but it would be great news if it's true. Hopefully, "episodes from the first season" means Season One Part One ( since the first season is 55 episodes) and not a best-of.

EDIT: Sorry, I meant to put a question mark in the title, can one of the admins please add it in?

Groovy Posted Image Posted Image

"And now the reprimand, from an American critic. He reproaches me for using film as a sacred & lasting medium, like a painting or a book. He does not believe that filmmaking is an inferior art, but he believes, and quite rightly, that a reel goes quickly, that the public are looking above all for relaxation, that film is fragile and that it is pretentious to express the power of one's soul by such ephemeral and delicate means, that Charlie Chaplin's or Buster Keaton's first films can only be seen on very rare and badly spoiled prints. I add that the cinema is making daily progress and that eventually films that we consider marvelous today will soon be forgotten because of new dimensions & colour. This is true. But for 4 weeks this film [The Blood of a Poet] has been shown to audiences that have been so attentive, so eager & so warm, that I wonder after all there is not an anonymous public who are looking for more than relaxation in the cinema." - Jean Cocteau, 1932

More good news from QKTheatre.com today:

[quote] VHS & DVD: Per Joe Glover (AKA Flint wo2) via Sgt. Recondo: "Joe talked to a Kid Rhino rep [at Wizard World Chicago] and got 'absolute confirmation' that the season #1 G.I.Joe 'toons will come out in 2 parts. The first half of season #1 (about 27 episodes or so) will be out in late October and will cost about $59. The second half of season #1 (again, about 27 episodes or whatever) will be out in January 2004 and will also cost about $59. Then, Rhino plans on having season #2 available in late summer 2004 - especially if the season #1 sets sell well. There is a possibility of a promotional 'extra' being sold with the DVD sets, such as a figure or whatever. The 'extra' is all unconfirmed though."
-- Thanks to Doug Smith for the news [quote]

If this is true, we could have the entire series on DVD by this time next summer.

There were only two seasons of the TV show?
Luckily, right at that moment, an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof.

He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun.

Yep, two seasons and two 5-part mini-series made up 95 total episodes. And then there was the movie. Thanks for the news, Daniel! Let's hope that schedule holds up!

Scott, Yes, from this information, it appears you'll want to hang on to that 2-disc set.

Call me crazy, but I also love the 1989 episodes. Does Rhino have the rights to those as well?

I know there are 95 episodes plus the 2 5 episode mini-series. What was released a few months ago? Was it one or both of the mini-series??
Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

The first two miniseries have been released, which are the first 10 of the 95 episodes. Season One was 55 episodes, Season Two was 30 episodes. epguides.com has a good breakdown of the entire Sunbow series run.

As an extra, it would be nice if they included the Sgt. Slaughter intros that they tacked on later. Can't wait till October 28!

Looks like Season One Part One is being pushed to January 27, 2004 according to QKTheatre.com:

[quote] VHS & DVD: According to a representative at Rhino, the release date for the G.I.Joe: Season I - Part I DVD box set ($59.95) is now tentatively set for January 27, 2004. If the date is finalized, details about the set's contents will not be released until January. [quote]
