Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definate price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including. In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. I have a lovely wife and a five-year-old son I'd rather spend time with. Please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

* Yes, this week's Roundup took a long time for me to post. Thanks for being patient. In addition to 40 titles, and tons of markdowns, there was also the problem of Best Buy re-launching their website right in the middle of my gathering prices from them. After waiting for the new site to come up, it looked great but so far everything moves in slow motion there. So you might want to give them a day or two to work the kinks out.

* BE CAREFUL! How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and There's Something (More) About Mary are both available in both Widescreen and Fullscreen versions...get the correct one.

* Non-OAR discs are left off the Roundup, whenever they've been identified in advance. Example: Woody Allen's Don't Drink The Water. This does NOT apply to markdowns, which are simply cut-and-paste from other lists.

* Target has a deal which lets you buy There's Something (More) About Mary and save $5 when purchased with either Office Space or Shallow Hal at the same time.

* K-Mart's ad mentions that you can "Receive a $5 rebate by mail when you buy BOTH How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days on DVD AND on of these four titles on DVD: Grease, Runaway Bride, Save The Last Dance, What Women Want between 7/1/03 and 11/1/03. Since this is a mail-in offer, I suspect that it is not limited to K-Mart purchases. But no other ad mentions it. K-Mart's price on the main title is $19.95, and the other four are $14.95 each.

* Circuit City has a different offer in their ad for How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days: Save $3 with combined purchase of that film's DVD & CD soundtrack. Available In-store only.

* And Best Buy has their own, different offer in their ad for How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days: Buy it and Clueless at the same time for just $20. In a similar vein, but not about any new releases, they will also sell you the already-been-out Special Edition of The Terminator together with Legally Blonde for just $20. What do those two have in common? Well, someone pointed out that these are both MGM films that have sequels hitting the box office...and I must agree that this is the only reason that makes sense.

* I'm not sure what's going on with Sam's Club. Roundup readers from a couple of weeks ago will remember that I left Sam's off the Roundup entirely because there were no releases from that week listed at their website. Now their website, which has always listed DVDs under "Books Movies, & CDs", ONLY shows Books and CDs when you click on that link. King of the Hill (listed in the Roundup grid) and the upcoming release of The Two Towers are still shown in picture ads at the top, and the price is shown in a caption. But if this lack of price-showing at the site continues, I'll just drop them from the Roundup entirely.

Someone might want to check that price on "Anastacia" at Best Buy on Tuesday. I was there on Saturday and they'd marked up the last Fox Classics release, "The Song of Bernadette," to $17.99.

Non-OAR discs are left off the Roundup, whenever they've been identified in advance. Example: Woody Allen's Don't Drink The Water.
Just a note - Don't Drink The Water is a 1994 filmed-for-TV version of Allen's play, so in this case the 1.33:1 aspect ratio is indeed the OAR.

Thanks as always for the hard work you always put in on this, Dave. (especially on weeks like this one).

Just more I Love Lucy. But that doesn't stop the fun of seeing what is coming out anyway. Thanks again, as always, David.

So 19.99 is the best there is for Something about Mary except at Target w/ Office Space you get $5 off?

I'm tempted to go to Target but wasn't there a SE of Office Space on the way or did that one get cancelled indefinetly?

This is a very heavy week for me, with 5 dvds to buy:

The Gold Rush
Modern Times
The Great Dictator
What's Up, Doc?
Fun with Dick & Jane

Thanks for all the info David. I'm bummed that it looks like Costco will only have the Streisand and Chaplin box sets, since I'm only interested in 1 of hers and 3 of his.

I was all excited to see King of the Hill was out on the shelf at Sam's Club yesterday. Don't worry, they won't get in trouble for breaking the street date. When the girl scanned it it wouldn't ring up. It said something like "Sale not allowed." I pretended I didn't know what was going on, hoping she would be able to override it. No such luck. The manager figured out that it wasn't supposed to be out and pulled them from the floor. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

And like Craig said, Don't Drink the Water is indeed an OAR presentation. It's also very funny, much better than the old version with Jackie Gleason (IMO).

I am also interested in Wings of Desire -- never seen it but I love almost everything Wim Wenders has done.

Does anyone know if any of the B&Ms will be carrying it and how much it might be?

Thanks if you know and thanks (as always) to Dave for The Roundup.

There is something about Mary has been released twice before. Am I the only person who thinks that $19.95 is a little steep for a triple dip.

Thanks David. By the way, how long before you patent the naked David Lambert celebration dance? I think with some of the hard work you're doing for these round ups and all the "dancing" being done by others in celebration, you oughta collect royalties.
