Tough gig, being a bird.

I sure hope when this eventually gets released on dvd, that it will include an extensive Making Of documentary.

I knew I had to see this film when I saw the trailer a couple months back. What an amazing achievement! Absolutely stunning! :emoji_thumbsup:

I too think it's a very good film (I'm STILL trying to figure out how some of the film's amazing cinematography was accomplished), and one that should be seen in the theater if you get a chance.

I haven't heard much about the Quebec DVD but I probably wouldn't get it because of the lack of english subtitles on the french disc.

Winged Migration is a visually impressive film. I admired the manner in which the overall photography was undertaken. Of course, those who will be venturing out to see this film should be well prepared for the subject matter at hand. Otherwise, watching birds fly for about 90 minutes might be a little too much to take after a while.

While the film is a documentary, very little of it is actually narrated. For the most part, it uses captions and visual artistry to tell its story. Yes, there is a story. After all, these are living creatures with their own personalities.

This feature is similar to others that grace the IMAX screen but this time, without the big-screen format. Enjoy it for what it is.

Breathtaking documentary. It's not only the film's cinematography that was extraordinary, but also the sound and the music. That avalanche sequence was INTENSE. And as someone who loves animals, I was both moved and disturbed by what happened to these birds during their journey. I guess some would find the lack of solid narration to be a problem, but I think extensive narration would take away from the strong images.

That is true. I was also surprised at how crisp and strong the sound was, especially those coming from the birds and nature. It was very impressive.
