Best film of the 1950s - Seven Samurai (I understand this, but strongly disagree. Rear Window is easily the best film of the 50s)

Best film of the 1990s - Goodfellas

Best horror - Nosferatu (geez, again by far the best of the choices, Psycho, doesn't get a single vote Posted Image )

Best western - I'll break the tie for The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

Based on the idea that the best film overall is certainly the best of it's decade and the best of it's genre, we have the following finalists.

Best film overall:

Seven Samurai

2001

The Godfather

For myself, there are very few films that I'll pick over 2001: A Space Odyssey, and none of them are in this final Posted Image therefore -

2001: A Space Odyssey

BTW George, Vertigo is the best film of the '50s. Posted Image

- Walter.

2001

Actually, Ikiru, Tokyo Story, The Seventh Seal, Ordet, and a few other films are better than Rear Window or Vertigo. Posted Image

I admire Seven Samurai a great deal but it's certainly not my choice for best film. But it's the nature of these tournaments that you choose from a limited list. It simply edged out the other two films, imho. But all are close and none would have been my choice for best film.

2001 All three are fine films and while none would be my absolute ‘best’ choice, I’d not be upset with either of the K & K entries as the winner.
