According to the www.tvshowsondvd.com The complete first season of Smallville will be released on dvd Septemeber 23.

Sweet!
Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

Wow, and yet another TV show gets the complete season treatment in September.
Well, that makes it official: No food for me in September!

Great news though. Posted Image

The specs listed today say stereo sound. So, do I get rid of my pilot DVD from Canada which has 5.1? Hmmm, I'll have to ruminate on it some more.

Where the heck did David's post from yesterday concerning this go? I went back a couple pages and it's not there. I even replied to the thread.

I don't like the cover either.
If you don't know the show that cover makes the boxset look a like a gay porno. Posted Image

The extremely generous Mr. David Lambert originally posted the news on this box set yesterday.

You can check out the updated specs and artwork here:

I'll be running faster than a speeding bullet to pick this bad boy up. I can promise you there'll be no complaints from my wife when she sees the cover art.Posted Image

(paraphrasing my Lambert topic post)

I wish the cover weren't a rehash of the Canadian cover, but still on my must-buy list. One of my favorite shows on TV and perhaps the best superhero series ever, with just the right measure of earnest humor that only Millar and Gough can inject into something.

Any idea if they'll have to exchange any of the songs ?
They really use a lot of current hits so it would get very expensive to license all those songs. Avril Lavigne alone would get a small fortune.

It's all good, guys. Did everyone see the TVShowsOnDVD news item I published this morning that listed the extras, and showed the 3-D view of the box?

I replied to that thread too and it's nowhere. Oh, well, like I said in that one....I'm all over this dvd as Smallville just might be my favorite tv show ever.

And yes, the cover could have been better. Like Kristin K on the front, shirtless...with the S.

I'd be willing to bet that music rights for DVD releases are (and have) been included with broadcast rights for the past couple years. My 50 Cents...

The latest replies to some threads are missing I noticed. Mine as well.

I said that the cover was rather bland, and dull looking. It simply is a rehash of the canadian cover, but at least that one looked better. Something about it, it just looks dull or something.

Sad to hear about the lack of 5.1...

That doesn't just look like gay porn. It looks like gay S&M porn. Some blind purchasers will be sorely disappointed. Although I'm having trouble thinking of anything better beyond the standard cast shot.

I just checked it out... the extras, with the exception of the TV Spots and the DVD-ROM content, appear to be exactly the same. Hopefully, they're spliting the pilot and first episode back up again.

Still, with the isometric view I've got to say I think it's pretty classy.

I think the songs of Her Prettiness Avril Lavigne didn't appear until season 2 if I remeber correctly. Posted Image
But, as Kyle already said, this being a very recent TV show they should have been smart enough to negotiate rights for the eventual DVD release early on anyway.

Yeah, that cover's pretty gross, I gotta admit...Tom's lookin' a little old and ragged.

Are they sure about the stereo audio? I would have bet any show (especially a brand new hit series) would be 5.1, no?

Isn't that Canadian DVD 5.1? Why would they do that and not the series release?

Anyway, this is definitely a must-have.

But, will it have the Ortho TV spots? Posted Image
