This could be great with Kenneth Johnson at the helm. His commentary for V - The original miniseries is one of my favourites. 3 hours is too short though, I want more.......

My Mom's cousin Rapheal Campos was in the original...
And I loved it!!! the two mini series are on the Action channel quite often....
And it's not on SCiFi!!!!!!

Let's just hope they do a movie or mini-series that wraps things up and be done with it. If they try to milk it for another series, NBC will just cancel it again.

Now it's official. NBC has given a script commitment to V: The Second Generation, a three hour TV movie. Twenty years after the Visitors invaded Earth the human resistance continues, with a strange and powerful new ally. Could it be the alien race our heroes tried to contact at the end of the first miniseries?

Englund didn't mention if Johnson had contacted that chick who played his girlfriend, though if she's unavailable, he could just hire Dee Snider, as they looked scarily alike.

Great news and if they get the original cast back, even better.
I am glad that Johnson is involved. The whole reason why the horrible TV show failed is because he wasnt invloved.
I bet this will be better than Battlestar Galactica because it is not redoing everything with a New cast.

I am confused by this whole 3 hrs thing though. Does that mean in total runtime sans commercials?

Well, either way can be done well or poorly. If it's better than Galactica, it'll be because the people involved did a better job, not because one approach is inherently better than another.

It won't be better, as they ripped the heart out of the show. What made it unique has been destroyed in the "re-imagining" process. In it's place, Baltar screwing Cylons!

When the say it will take place 20 years in the future, I hope they mean in the present (20 years after the series) and not 20 years from now since that would make it really tought to use any of the original cast.

Jeff, get over it or ignore it. All I was saying is that continuation isn't inherently better than starting from scratch, and that if this V sequel winds up being good, it'll be more because Kenneth Johnson shows up in Alien Nation form as opposed to Short Circuit 2 form than the inherent (and, IMHO, questionable) goodness of maintaining twenty-year-old continuity.

As much as I'll probably enjoy V+20 if it gets made, though, I still wish there was more science fiction/fantasy on television that wasn't a continuation, re-make, spin-off, sequel, etc. of some kind. I mean, we're science-fiction fans, right? We're supposed to be looking toward the future and excited by new ideas, but instead we get stuff that was maybe clever the first time, ten-plus years ago at the very least, and we as a group appear to mostly worry that they won't follow that template slavishly enough.

How bizarre is it that the only network with anything close to "new" in the way of upcoming sci-fi is stodgy old CBS with Century City, BTW? It's kind of depressing, when you think about it.

I read in TV Guide that it will be a continuation of the first miniseries only. While I don't mind them "forgetting" about the series, I am a little annoyed that they may not be acknowledging events in the second miniseries, "The Final Battle"
