!!!! GROUP PURCHASE SURVEY: What would our members like to see offered? !!!! (1 Viewer)

We are putting together a Group Purchase
program with a reputable internet dealer who
is interested in offering great deals on audio
and video equipment based on purchase as a group.
Although we had previously banned group purchases
on this forum, it was done because it was being
run by members -- not the vendors themselves. Having
a group purchase totally authorized and managed
through a reputable vendor clears us of any of the
legal problems we encountered in the past.
Here is how it will work....
The vendor will post a thread featuring a
particular audio or video item. Many times (but
not always) the item is closeout, which means
the deals can be as good as up to 50% (or more) off
the normal price.
The more people that buy into that group purchase,
the better the price becomes.
The purchases will be handled through a vendor.
You will absolutely be guaranteed that you will
not find a better price posted on that website which
already has some of the best prices on the web.
We will announce the vendor once we start the
group purchase program.

What kind of items would you like to see
offered as a Group Purchase?
The vendor will be checking out this thread to
gauge your responses.

Right now I'm in the market for a home theater processor or a 2 channel tube preamp. I've purchased speakers, subwoofers, DVD players, line conditioners, TVs, and A/V receivers in the past. These are the type of items I would like to see in these group purchases.

I'll be in the market for a quality pre/pro this winter and the price of brand new models is still out of my budget. I've bought two "last year's model" receivers before. Line conditioners would be good also, maybe DVD players and some speakers that we could point newbies to.

Anything and everything would be great. I would love to see a group purchase on the Sony SCD-C555ES multi-channel SACD changer, but I doubt there is enough interest here or that a dealer would offer it. Whatever is made available, I'd consider participating. Great idea!

Is this vendor a manufacturer
authorized dealer for all brands
he will handle. Will the manufactures warranty be honored
by the manufacturer, the vendor or
who. Also for receivers what brands
might we expect to see, Denon,
Yamaha, Marantz??????? Thanks.

To answer you first question, Yes, this
will be an authorized dealer for all products
sold.
I have no idea what brands as of yet, but
I know they carry all the major brands.

Don't even know if such a product is available yet but what the heck.
I don't want to replace any of my current equipment but would like to add DPL2 processing. Don't know how many other members are in the same boat but an addon DPL2 decoder would be great!

I also would like to see the SACD players from Sony (222ES, 333ES, 555ES). I also would like to see the flagship receivers from Denon (5800 or 4802) or the B&k 307.
I would say Paradigm Reference speakers as well but don't know if this would be a possibility?

I'm currently interested in purchasing a remote control like the Pronto TSU2000 (or something similiar.)
In the next year or so I plan on purchasing a HDTV as well. Haven't decided on an RPTV or projection unit yet.
I wish this announcement would have come three months ago. I just went through the uprgrade bug this summer. Oh well, I have a feeling that the HTF Group Purchase plan will have enough momentum to make it to my next major upgrade phase!

I'll bet this thread gets moved to Polls.

Seems to be a lot of interest on the CD megachangers..Sony ES line especially..

I was in the market for a pre/pro (or receiver w/ DPL2) and amplifier, that was until my car decided to give out . However I am never one to pass up a good deal if it can be found. Hope this help Chris

Id love to see a group deal on the new Kenwood Mega-400+3 Disc-DVD Changer with Faroudja Processing. List of 1500 is too dern high for me, but Id love one.

Mark me down for mid-level to hi-fi A/V recievers.
Keep in mind you can never go wrong with good deals on speakers either.

Really I see #2 & #3 on my list being some of the hottest items around here with all the new formats coming available and with people making the move to seperates as they get deeper into this hobby.
I think this is a really good idea for the forum. I just hope I can participate sometime (as I have new twins at home and a 2 yr. old - I don't know when that will be!).
