What does the 5/7 channel button a the Denon 4802 do? I can not fine any reference to it in the manual, When watching some movies it sounds better than when on Dolby Digital. Even though the DVD is Dolby Digital

The 7th channel means if you have your set up for 6.1 DTS ES or DD EX i.e 3 front speakers, 3 rear and a sub.In other words you playing a 2 channel soundtrack in 7 speakers. Or 5 if you dont have the rear center channel.

May the Force be with you

Is it reffering to 5 or 7 channel stereo? if so, then you wouldn't be getting surround sound from it.

The manual claims that it explains what it does on page 34 and 53, but I couldn't find anything.
