B&W 601's and 602's (1 Viewer)

I am considering buying a Denon 3803 and B&W 602's for fronts and B&W 601's for rears and a the B&W LCR 60 for a center. Does this sound like a good setup on a limited budget? Need to stay under $2000 for receiver and speakers.

I had 602s on the four corners for about four years (I had the CC6 center) and It was a very nice sounding setup. Using 601 speakers in the back should work quite well. I think you would be very happy with that choice.

Sounds like a great system. You can't lose. But just some food for thought... Have you heard the Marantz SR7300 paired with the 602s? You might want to check it out, plus it will save you some money. You might also want to listen to the LCR 600 with the 602 fronts, rather than the LCR 60. I found that the sound matches better. You can probably put the money you save, if you get the Marantz, into the extra cost for the larger LCR.

I have three 602s in the front and two 601s in my rear, and I love them. I have no temptation to upgrade at all, these speakers are completely satisfying. I'd recommend a third 602 as your center if you can get one and your theater provides for it. (Since the 602 is not shielded you can't use it on an RPTV).

I have 602 S3's for my fronts, an LCR60 for my center, and 600 S3's for my rears. I don't plan on changing a thing, they're great.

How do the 603's compare to the 602's? Does anyone think that the B & W speakers sound a tad bit muddy or was it just me?

What receivers match well with the B&W 600 series?

Would the B&W 600 series be considered 'warm' sounding?

I have the 602's and the 601's with a cc6(upgrading to the LCR 60) and I love them. Try them with the Marantz or the HK. The warmth of these goes well with B&W. Better yet audition the NAD's. This is a great match for the money. You won't get all the bells and whistles with the NAD, you may not need them. This is why NAD is so well respected. They put the money where it counts, the sound. I still have my NAD pre and power amp from '81 for 2-channel and it still sounds better than most new recievers.

Muddiness is a common complaint with the 603s. When I auditioned the original series many years ago I thought the less expensive 602s sounded better than thte 603s. That may have changed and it may depend on amplification.
