Wow, what a powerful episode. The widescreen framing on the credits montage was a revelation. After a season of seeing the painted depictions Cheers-style, seeing that they were actually on the wall was very cool. The rest of the episode tended to suffer from the bunched in the middle syndrome. Still, I hope the WB gives them a firm commitment to widescreen next season so they can frame for it.

The scene between the professor and Ephram and the follow-up between Doc Brown and Ephram really worked for me to bring their whole arc to a point. The montage as everyone prepared for the surgery gave me goosebumps, and the last shot of Doc Brown just standing there, with just his expression; that left me moved.

Truly a great time to be a television fan.

This show does so many things right when it could easily and understandably get them wrong.

Although I loved the finale, I have to wonder why every show insists on a damn cliffhanger. This just feels forced for this type of show. Not every show is "Dallas" now is it? I would be tuning in next season cliffhanger or not.

I didn't take it as a cliffhanger.

I took Andy's sad face to mean that Colin died. Then again, the actor who plays Colin (Michael Erwin) will be on a pilot for another show for the fall, so odds are that Colin is dead. Plus Colin got to basically have a last great day before he went under the knife.

The "TV Scooper" Kristin on EOnline said in a chat today that the actor who plays Colin will return next season. Berlanti apparently told her that he was coming back even if his pilot was picked up (but it wasn't).

Of course, this could mean that he does die and will be shown only in flashbacks next year. But I'm thinking at this point he doesn't die. He may not be exactly "normal", though.


Such a great show! I hope they can keep up this quality next year. I'll definitely be tuning in to find out.

I'd agree with Patrick's interpretation.And since this show DOES have a penchant for characters talking (out loud) to dead people, perhaps Amy will be in the place, emotionally, that Doc Brown was at the beginning of this season.

I was scared for Delia's sake when Ephram was driving the stick-stick SUV with Andy. I thought she was going to round over by Ephram.

Also, if Colin dies, remember what Andy's mentor told him, Everwood is going to be a tough town to live in. That could set up more tension for next season, instead of watching the Brown live happily in their new town of Everwood, which would be boring.

I agree that this was a great episode.

Just to nit pick for a second: Anyone else wonder what moron would let their unpredictable, seizure prone kid who could stroke out at any moment drive a car for hours and hours?? I thought that was just a tad on the strange and unbelievable side ...Still, it was really good stuff.

While I'm inclined to agree that Dr. Brown's frown indicated that Collin had died, I doubt that the show's writers would kill the character like that. I'm guessing for "complications" followed by another lengthy recovery.

All Andy's face indicated was that something went wrong. With Colin telling him he didn't want to come back unless he was the same, that could be the source of the strained face. He could be back in a coma, he could have brain damage or he could have died. A myriad of possibilities.

It's not like 'Who shot Mr. Burns?' but it smacks of a cliffhanger none-the-less. After watching 'Gilmore Girls' last night I was reminded about how a show of this nature should end its season. Stories left open for next year making you want to come back, but no damn fade out when someone's about to speak.

What do you think of the little teasers they had with Nina? First Andy asks about her husband, then later a brief shot of her and Delia working at something together (forgot what it was) and looking very mother and daughter like.

That was touching at the end where Ephram says to Amy "I am home"

Well, getting rid of Nina's husband in a way so that Andy doesn't come off looking like a cad is how they'll get Andy and Nina together, though it might take 2 more seasons to get them there as a couple.
