Hi...

Many saw the Freddy vs Jason teaser on Matrix Reloaded...
If you didnt and are interested, you can go to FreddyvsJason.com

I was just wondering what your audiences reaction was like??? Also, what do you think and how much do you think this movie will make as of right now????

Keep in mind the full trailer and full poster wont be released till June followed by banners 4th of July weekend...

The movie will also be competing against Jeepers Creepers 2...

Which movie of the two will come out on top???

I think personally that Freddy vs Jason will have numbers somewhere around what H20 made... Somewhere around $55 million total...

I think Jeepers Creepers 2 will make $25 million total...

I didn't get to see the Matrix yet, but when I saw the trailer for Jason X in the theater, the whole crowd was just laughing. So I can picture the same for Freddy VS Jason.

Personally I'm looking forward to the flick. ;)

I saw the FvsJ trailer on Matrix Reloaded and my crowd reacted in shock and actually cheered. It was the biggest positive reaction of the night.

Jeepers Creepers will get it's butt hacked up into little pieces by Freddy and Jason come box office time.

JC2 would be wise to move off that date. Perhaps closer to Halloween.

Yeah, my money's on FvsJ too. I mean let's face it, these are two major icons of horror going head to head with each other on the silver screen! It's a horror fans dream come true!

No contest really.

And that sucks, we didn't get the FvsJ teaser at the theater we went to! :frowning: Looking foreward to seeing it though. I have a slow internet connection so seeing the teaser on-line is out for me. It's cool though, I watch E!'s 'Coming Attractions' and their bound to show it soon I think.

As for JC2, I loved the original, but the sequel is doing very little to impress me at this time, that may change, but for now...

Besides, Gina Philips not returning is a MAJOR no no for me! I was really looking foreward to her charactor seeking vengeance against the Creeper to avenge her brothers death
, but it's not to be sadly.

Plus she was a major hottie. :)

The whole audience was laughing. A lot of people rolled their eyes and just thought it was silly. I couldn't help but laughing when the "place your bets!" line was given. I will not crap on your thread because I've never enjoyed any of the movies on those series.

One thing I did notice, which will be nice for the fans, is that it seems it has a better production value then those other ones. At least they are not on a space ship like last time.

Hope you all enjoy. I'll pass on both of them.

I think this movie is slighty more original. Freddy taking on jason in the dreamworld. I mean its not going to be awesome plot stuff going on, but it should be interesting. I'll probably go see it.

Actually, just about anyone here at HTF will tell you that I am huge Friday supporter. I have a lot of issues that I simply cannot avoid with this coming film down the design of Jason, the fact that he has a beer belly or the fact that this film looks like nothing but a huge live action comic book.

I loved Jeepers Creepers and I adore Jason X and find it to be one of the most fun films in that series, but JC2...needs to move...as un fan friendly as I think that F VS J will be...I am afraid that it will make money.

Hmmm. I guess I've never noticed anything about Jason other than he wears a hockey mask and carries a big knife. Beyond that, they could throw anyone up there--tall, short, fat, thin--and as long as they had the mask and knife I wouldn't know the difference.

I didn't realize he was 6'-2" with washboard abs. :D

The audience laughed at my viewing on Sunday. I'm curious about the movie, but I don't know how much of an audience is left for Freddy vs. Jason.

According to IMDB, Jason X only made 6.5M on its opening weekend with a budget of about $14M. I'm sure it has made a profit, but I wouldn't say people were waiting in line to see it. IMDB claims a $25M budget for Freddy vs. Jason and I don't think the movie will gross that much in theaters, but I think the curiousity factor will be good for rentals, especially around Halloween.

Jason X is a different type of movie. I am really hoping they go back to the 80s type of horror film feeling with Jason vs. Freddy.

The teaser looks promising and they have the original composers from both Elm St. and Friday the 13th...as well as the producers....let's hope it is good!

I somehow think Hollywood will screw it up though.

I liked F13 through part 7 and pretty much every Elm St.

Gruson,

Actually the test screening reviews for this have been positive... They all say that Freddy is darker like he was in the first movie and that he is extrememly mean and twisted... More so then he has ever been...

They also say this movie is near or at the top as the best movie in both series...

They did say one thing wrong with the movie is the lead actress, Monica Keena... Other than that, every review has said it was decent movie...

The deaths are extremely brutal (unless the MPAA gets involved?. The people who did makeup effects were the same ones who did Final Destination 2...

About Jason X,

I hated that movie... I am a fan and I even chose not to go see it at the theater... A good chunk of even horror fans avoided it completely... Thats why it did bad...

Actually, when you add in international, video rentals, and sales the movie made $58 million... Not too shabby...

New Lines official gross chart had something like

Total cost with advertising: 36 million...

Total made: 58 something million...

New Line made a profit of about $20 million...

Not too bad for a movie 99,8% of people hated....

I just like to think if one the the worst movies ever made (Halloween 8) can make $31 million domestically, this can do just as good or better...

This is gonna be stupid, I know, but isn't Freddy dead? They very definitely killed him off in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. The spirit of Freddy resurfaced in Wes Craven's New Nightmare in a pretty clever way, but it was made clear that it was not really Freddy Kreuger but a manifestation of an ancient evil that used a popular culture character to give itself life. That "Freddy" didn't even look like the original "movie" Freddy.

This one looks like the "movie" Freddy from Nightmares 1 through 6. I know this is just a stupid movie where evil never dies, but what can explain this after having two prior movies berate the point of him being truly dead?

Jonathan,

these films were never exactly the model of continuity. In Friday pt8 Jason died in the sewer in NY city, but returned for Jason Goes to Hell. They ignored pt8 simply because they couldn't think of a plausable way of resurrecting him and returning him to Crystal lake.

As for this film, I assume either they're both indeed dead and are in hell together, or they're still here, probably the latter since Jason will be snuffing more teens, he can't very well do that if he's in hell. This film will most likely be a sort of stand alone event film for both.

Just remember that Jason shouldn't even be on this planet anymore because of the event's of Jason X, so they're ignoring that film too.

You just have to sorta throw up your hands and go with it I guess. :)

THIS PLOT CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!!!

This movie follows Freddy's Dead and Jason goes to Hell... Wes Cravens New Nightmare is not mentioned, because it is not in the same timeline. WCNN was a what if side story basically... Plus, it didnt do well at all, so New Line I guess just figured that's not the version of Freddy people want...

Freddy's Dead on the other hand (even though I hate the movie) had a successful box office run...

I have read parts of the script and it does explain why Freddy is back in a cleaver way... The script is actually pretty enjoyable... It also explains why Springwood is once again so populated...

The movie starts with a brief story of Freddy... His court trial, crimes of the past, to his eventual burning... Then past clips of all the movies are shown up until Freddy's death...

The gist is that Freddy is basically screwed... He cant get to anyone and has been completely forgotten by everyone... The parents have been giving all the children that drug that Nancy used in part 3 (hypnicol)... So therefore no one is dreaming anymore... No dreams, no Freddy...

So there is where Freddy sends Jason... Freddy appears to Jason as his dead mother and sends him to Springwood... Jason was never really that intelligent...

A death occurs... The people in town of course think it might be Freddy... Freddy's name is surfacing again and people are remembering him... So he takes his chance and invades the dreams of someone...

Thats basically the beginning....

I still haven't seen the trailer at the theater, but from what I've seen and read online, I'm pretty jazzed. This is definitely a must-see for any horror fan.
