You get down there and find the big diamond, or you'll never see the teddy again.

[c]Posted Image[/c]

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definate price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including. In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. I have a lovely wife and a five-year-old son I'd rather spend time with. Please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

* BE CAREFUL! Antwone Fisher & Star Trek: Nemesis are available in both Widescreen and Fullscreen versions...get the correct one.

* As you can see, The Love Bug - Special Edition is definately streeting this week, but no national brick-and-mortar chains seems to have it listed at their website (including Borders,Tower Records, FYE, Suncoast, and MediaPlay). Fry's Outpost.com site shows it for $22.99. Oh, well...I expect that (at least) Costco, Wal-Mart, and Target are likely to have these in-store in any case.

* I also am unable to find website listings for Farscape 3.2 at either Best Buy or Circuit City...although they both show Farscape 3.3 for it's 7/1 release ($24.99 and $34.99, respectively). Strange...I doubt they are skipping a volume. Must be a full moon, or something...maybe a lunar eclipse! Posted Image

* $10 Upgrade Mail-in Rebate with purchase of Windtalkers: Directors Edition: Available with purchase of Windtalkers: Directors Edition DVD & proof of purchase or original receipt from Windtalkers standard edition DVD. See package for form and details.

* Target: Save $5 when you buy Antwone Fisher and either Men of Courage or Courage Under Fire on DVD at the same time.

* Best Buy's got a Sex and the City deal: Season 4 - $34.99; Season 3 - $34.99; Season 2 - $39.99; Season 1 - $29.99. So what's the deal? Buy any 2 seasons and save $15. Buy any 3 seasons and save $30. Buy all 4 seasons and save $50. The last comes to $89.96 (which averages $22.49 a pop!).

* Also at Best Buy, save $15 when you buy both Dances With Wolves - SE and Windtalkers - Director's Edition at the same time.

* But really...head to Target and get the new Dances With Wolves - Special Edition release for just $15.99! Posted Image With an hour of extended scenes integrated back in, plus new commentary recorded JUST for those scenes, plus other new features...why not, for such a frugal price? Thank, Target!

I've been checking out your roundup for a little while and have been remiss in thanking you for such a great resource. So thank you for all your hard work, though it makes spending my money a little too easy now!

Query: Best Buy price matches their competitors, of course. But I'm not sure if they price match AND do their own deal at the same time (sounds a little 'greedy' of us, but hey, I have to ask...).

Circuit City is the best price on Windtalkers ($23).

Target is the best price on Dances With Wolves ($16).

Would a Best Buy give you one (or both) of those prices AND give you the $15-off-for-buying-both deal? $39 minus 15... $24 and tax for both of these sounds great... probably not gonna happen, though, huh?

Anybody have experience trying to pull something like this one off?

Thanks.

FYI...Barton Fink & Miller's Crossing are both $12.99 at Costco. Many stores put these titles out early with a Fox pre-pack of $12.99 titles.

I bought mine last week. Posted Image

(They are reportedly both also the same price and already out at Sam's Club stores.)

I have a busy buying week:

25th Hour
Adaptation
Antowne Fisher
Dances with Wolves
Sex & the City
Star Trek: Nemesis

I'll be hitting 3 different stores on Tuesday, unless I can get CC to price-match Target and Best Buy.

Plus I have the new John Cusack film Max on order from DDD for $17.09. I figured none of the B&M's would have deals on it since it is an indie film about a young Hitler.

I have tried doing this, even when my daughter worked at BB, and they won't do it. It's not that they can't, but what I have been told is that you have to take one or the other, but not both offers.

... but it never hurts to try.... Posted Image

Dave,
I am very angry with you! Posted Image This would be because you have single handedly made me much poorer, yet again. There are 10 titles this week that I could easily purchase, and probably will Posted Image .

As always thanks for the great round-up. I think if my fiancee found out that I check this round-up every week, that she would figure out a way to blow up the internet for all those @#*! DVD's that I buy. Posted Image

Thanks,

Thanks for the great round-up this week. I always go here first before figuring out where to buy new DVD's on Tuesday.

I do have a question for you Dave. Are you sure the Rescuers is coming out on Tuesday? I was surprised not to find it in any circulars. I went to Disneystore.com website and they do not even have it listed!! I went to Disney's main site and looked at their release schedule and could not find it listed either. Have you heard anything about this title. Since it is the first time appearing on DVD i thought that Disney would be giving the title a little push, but now it seems non-existant.

Very curious is the almost universal silence on THE LOVE BUG and THE RESCUERS. Is this any way to promote two solid catalog titles Disney?

Thanks for the roundup Dave.

This is one of the weeks I've been waiting for ever since I bought my first DVD. I've literally been getting goosebumps just thinking that Miller's Crossing & Barton Fink are only two days away! The fact that the Dances With Wolves SE is also coming out this week, and is only 15.99 at Target (!!!!) makes this probably the most excited I've ever been about a week's releases. I'd love to get Cheers as well, but will probably have to wait on that. Thanks as always, Dave.Posted Image

Very curious is the almost universal silence on THE LOVE BUG and THE RESCUERS. Is this any way to promote two solid catalog titles Disney?
I, too, am truly appalled and confused by this situation. I spent a long time with this before publishing the Roundup today. Since I am also the Asst. Admin at TVShowsOnDVD.com, I have access to Disney's password-protected information system. I see there that in the monthly listings of promotions, neither Rescuers or Love Bug are prominently listed. They ARE listed among multi-title promotions, though. And looking up individual details still shows the street date of 5/20/03. I guess that this is one of those occassions where other titles (20,000 Leagues and Milo's Return) are getting the attention, and the others are coming up short-changed. In their shoes, I would have switched half the titles to a different weekend, in that case, so I could give them the attention they deserve. Perhaps, then, that's what has happenned...and we'll get the official word at the last second. Or not. What's easier to believe? That Disney's screwing us over, or that Disney's screwing up? I have no problem believing either one, but the latter seems more likely (fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it!).

Scott Weinberg

News to me! That would be very cool...especially with the $15.99 price at Target to increase the value of this. I just hope it's something I don't already have, and that I want. If not, I supposed I could sell or trade it.

Now *Cheers* is something I've been waiting on to own since I got my own DVD player, so I know how you feel. I too will have to wait on something...Miller and Fink, to name them. I'd love to see what the fuss is about, but I'm already planning to spend $300 on DVDs this week. Oh, my aching plastic!! Posted Image

Wow! Awesome deal, in fact. I wish there was a MediaPlay in town. Is Suncoast participating, I wonder? Probably not... the "concepts" are kept too separate to share sales/deals, I'm told by their HQ. Posted Image But thanks for sharing!

Finally, before I disappear for the night, I want to thank each and every one of you for the kind words and the support and the extra info. I wouldn't do this without you guys and gals! THANKS!
