I know that there's some Fassbinder afficianados at HTF, so I need your help. I would like to know about a song that is used in Fassbinder's 1975 film FAUSTRECHT DER FREHEIT. Before you say anything, I know that Leonard Cohen's "Bird on the Wire" pops up in the film twice. This song that I am inquiring about enters into the film abot an hour or so into the film. It bridges the scene where Max and Eugen go to the opera and leave Fox behind and the scene in Springer's bar where Fatty Schmidt, the florist, recognizes Fox from earlier in the film. If my ears do not deceive me, the song is in French. If any of you here at the HTF community know the song and who sings it, I will be grateful.

DADA for now....

I cued up the part of the film you are referring to.

It does sound like French, but I have no idea what the song is.

Sorry.

I'll try and check it out tomorrow but I doubt I'll recognize it if it's a French song.

Craziest you'd never in a million years think this song would end up in a Fassbinder film? -- Kenny Rogers: Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town in Rio Das Mortes

As I expected, I have no idea what the song is, it's definitely in French though.

For anyone else, the song in question begins in Chapter 11 at 87:30.
