Seasame Street Muppet Segments on DVD? (1 Viewer)

Are these already on DVD? I miss the classic Seasame Street, you know, before it became the Elmo show and the other characters actually got some screen time. I wouldn't mind have a collection of the Muppet Skits only from the Jim Henson years as a keep sake..

Who can forget C is for Cookie, or, 'Well, Cookie monster can sing it with you, I'm leaving?' Or the ever popular Super Grover and waiter segments?

There are a TON of Sesame Street DVDs, and most of the Elmo-oriented ones feature him pretty prominently on the cover. They are easy to avoid if that is your wish.

For some of the classic alphabet-related bits, may I suggest:

IIRC, it skips "C is for Cookie", but has "Dee Dee Dee...doughnut" and "J: Joe Jean and his Jelly-beans, hey! Let's sing a song about 'J'!" A good place to start for the young uns', or the young-at-heart.

Awesome.

Elmo is on my personal list of things to avoid in life...but classic Seasame street skits were a staple in my diet growing up...i even had the fisher-price seasame street "fold out" set with all the little characters and played with it endlessly...

I still laugh out loud when one of the more intelligent pre-elmo skits happens to be on PBS. Monstor-piece theater is among my favs...the bit where grover is sitting on the hill top waiting for "the sound of music"...practically puts me in tears.

What about the classic animations? I'd love a copy of the short films (Chef falling down stairs with pies is a personal fave), animation and other non-muppet material.

The only one I have is a reel for my Fisher Price Movie Viewer(hand crank projected on walls, silent, my first piece of HT

).

I need some images from a half rememberd record that I think was for this 'system. It involved a peice wh ere Burt and Ernie where in some kind of jungle, and still images where projected on the wall. Don't know why I remember it, but something from it sticks out..

Christmas Eve On Sesame Street from 1978 came out on DVD last year. I wish they'd put more of the older Sesame Street stuff out; I'd love to see it again. (Elmo came along a long time after I was already too old for the show, I've never actually seen him.)
I have that hand-cranked movie viewer too! I had the projector but it died; I have a videotape with the tail end of the TV commercial for it.

I have a 14 month old and I dread the second half of Sesame Street now, when it becomes Elmo's World; just grates on my nerves. Recently I dug out some old videotapes my brother gave me of Sesame Street that he bought for his kids some years ago. Now THOSE brought back memories. The Numbers one had all my favorite shorts that I recall (the little red ball on the wire roller coaster 1! 2! 3!; The Queen of 8s, etc).

This caused me to pick up a DVD I found with Rubber Duckie on it but I think that was pretty much the only bit on the disc I knew, and I don't believe it was the original either.

So...what we're really all asking here is if there are any Seasame St. DVDs with the *original* skits from the '70s and 80's that are pre-elmo. Anyone know? Any particular DVD compilations that fit this description?

That red-ball roller-coaster with the flags that that spin and the end is ground up and become the cherry on the ice-cream-sunday...still vivid in my mind after all these years

Other stuff I'd love is thing like Kermit the Frog doing his new-reporting interview with Snow White and the 6/7 dwarfs...

I dont think there are any with original skits. There's one called Sesame Streets 25th Anniversary which came out in 1993 on DVD which I think I'll pick up due to it's inclusion of C is for Cookie and Rubber Duckie. But other than that I think we're stuck with videotapes.

Paul, the Rubber Duckie on that is a shortened version, part of a montage/medley of Ernie songs/skits.

For people interested in the old skits, though, that is a good buy as well. I'd forgotten about it! Sorry.

There is a guy at work that when he agrees with you goes, "... yep.....yep....yep...yep..yep..yep..".
I got a couple people to mimic that and follow up with mooing or phone-ringing sounds.

I was hoping there was a web-site where you could download thumbnails of these clips. There are none on Nogin.

Elmo grows on you, and my 9-month old son loves him. Lala-lala, lala-lala, Elmo's world. Hey, it's MUCH better than Barney.

...it was mine too. Then I had a kid and to watch an 18 month old little girl light up and dance in front of a 57" TV every time he comes on, I can live with him.
