One of our exclusive news items on www.WidescreenReview.com and www.DVHSMovieGuide.com was to announce: "Daredevil" and "Phone Booth" to be released in the D-VHS D-Theater format day-and-date with their DVD and VHS versions on July 29. Also debuting on D-Theater high-definition video July 29 will be "There's Something About
Mary." These three blockbusters are presented for the first time in 1080i resolution on JVC’s D-VHS system, featuring D-Theater encryption. The addition of these hits brings Fox’s D-VHS product list up to 20 titles, which also include "Behind Enemy Lines," "Big Momma’s House," "Cast Away," "Courage Under Fire," "Die Hard," "Don’t Say A Word," "Entrapment," "Fight Club," "From Hell," "High Crimes," "Ice Age," "Independence Day," "Kiss Of The Dragon," "Men Of Honor," "Tim Burton’s Planet Of The Apes," "The Transporter," and "X-Men."

Issue 74, July 2003 of Widescreen Review will contain the first D-Theater reviews of "Daredevil," "Phone Booth," and "There's Something About Mary." Issue 73, June 2003 contained the D-Theater reviews of "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown," "Being John Malkovich," and "K-PAX."

Pre-orders and orders can be made at www.DVHSMovieGuide.com.

Troy, I think it has something to do with that chart. I looked at your post in edit mode and saw no spaces. I'll ask Parker to look into it.

Tape is a dead format disc is holy grail d-vhs is just a niche format waiting for hd-dvd tape causes cancer and birth defects d-theater is the spawn of satan and a tool of terrorists blah blah blah. Now, I've crash-proofed this thread. :)

Troy:

It is an issue with putting a table within the textarea posting box which is something that I discourage people from doing in the first place. Nothing can be done about it. I know others have used tables in their posts too and I haven't wanted them used there either.

Justout of curiosity where are some good palces to purchase D-VHS? Is there an equivalent to www.dvdpricesearch.com? "

Scott,
I've had good luck here: www.bestprices.com As long as the title is "IN STOCK"!! I don't suggest a "PRE-ORDER."

Great thread!!!! I am a recent convert. It's like the experience I had in watching DVD for the first time...WOW factor. I'm also finding myself ordering titles that I really not a fan of...but seeing it in HD, with the increase in audio...makes the experience of watching the movie enjoyable.

Rumor from AVS forum is Paramount may jump into mix and release their first D-theater titles...some movies about a guy named, Indy. Would love to see that happen.

Just finished watching 'End of Days'. A so-so flick, but the image quality was truly amazing. I can't wait for 'Snow Falling on Cedars'. The cinematography in that movie was simply stunning.

BTW, what's up with those completely bizarre Artisan release dates: 'Total Recall' and 'Basic Instinct'. They never came out to my knowledge.

How about Blue for titles that were announced, their ship date came and went with no sign. Like Glengarry Glen Ross or First Blood. Dvdempire.com doesn't even have it up for pre-order.

Interesting. I wonder why there is a D-VHS version of Backdraft, but Universal still hasn't released (or even announced) a new 16x9 transfer of it on DVD?

Check out my personal collection, as of May 18th this is every title ever released and in circulation (minus the delayed first blood, glen gary glen ross, and standing in the shadows of motown). I am such a d-theater junkie.

Now that the new D-Theater machine supports full bitrate DTS output and JVC has their new encoder for both DTS 96/24 and DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 (according to WSR), when are we supposed to see the first DTS titles?

I may just bite if steady DTS releases start happening soon and it looks like HD discs are going to be held up and/or severely compromised... and if JVC made their machines durable.

I want to invest in D-Theater later this summer after my wife and I buy our home or condo. Is anyone else excited about more than likely D-Theater releases of T3, X2, and The Hulk? Yummmmmmmmy! Too bad Matrix won't be on that list.
