I think he would be the guy to do it, but I don't think GTA has that great of a story, letalone one that is interesting enough to fit into a coherent movie that is anything more than something "just for the fans." I'd rather see an original idea in a similar style.

They are making a movie of The Getaway, which is pretty much GTA only MUCH more realistic and a way better story (from what I hear/read).

Of course, if Quentin Tarantino were to make a movie of GTA, it would probably come out 5 years from the time he started filming and the DVD would feature him doing commentary for only 5 minutes.

John Kilduff...

Since he's made Mortal Kombat & Resident Evil already, why not Paul Anderson?
Just because he's made them doesn't mean they've turned out well! As Morgan said, the story of GTA3 doesn't exactly inspire a great movie plot - though I haven't played Vice City yet. I can kind of see QT doing it, with Michael Madsen in the central role.

I think a GTA film would have zero to do with the actual plot of the games & much more focused on moving the atmosphere/sense of humour from the games into a gangster film.

Personally, I don't see the point - GTA's borrowed so much from the films, why go full circle?

If they were to make a movie about it, i would only hope that Ray liotta would play the lead. That would make it to perfect

I just love that Ron Howard did a commentary and contributed to a "25th Anniversery DVD" of Grand Theft Auto. Wouldn't see Coppola doing that. :)

(Of course, Howard also cast Roger Corman in Apollo 13 and appeared in The Independant. The guy can be unexpectedly cool)
