Is this new maelstrom defective? (1 Viewer)

My new Adire Maelstrom.

It is hard to get that close without getting blurry, but for a few inches the yellow is not flush with the black metal. There is a gap of around 2mm. There is no glue coming out of the edges like in other places where there is actually excess. Is this defective? Will it just flop off loosely when it starts moving with 315watts?

Thanks.

I think it should be sealed all around.

I don't know if that's going to make an audible difference though. I'd ask adire about it, because you should be able to get a free replacement driver if it was defective on arrival.

Derrick,

That is the Spider and yes it should be glued to the Basket
all the way around. The Spider *is* the suspension of any
Woofer (that and the Surround..) and if the Spider is not
secured all the way around this could cause problems like:
The cone not being centered in the magnetic gap under excursion.

The least of the problems could be that it would make noise
and that too would be unacceptable to me.

If it is not glued down I would not hesistate to ship it
back!

That would explain the burning sensation in my ears. It was either that, or because I auditioned some Acoustic Research AR9 towers earlier today.

;) **Burn!**

j/k.. One thing I've learned on this forum is that there is no greater comeback than attacking a man's speakers.

Hey if you Demo'd AR9's you'd own em...

But those who don't own em "jus don't get it" ;) :D

And yeah.. Bashing a man's speakers is like shooting his
horse...

I never shot a horse of a man I didn't like..
