I am considering getting the new 30'' Samsung because I only have a budget of $1000. I would wait for the Toshiba with the DVI. Is there any chance that it would fit into my budget of $1000? I would think that the DVI would push it over that but I'm not sure.

The Toshiba 51H83 is in the Best Buy computers at $1899. They are set to receive them on 5/29.

Any word on the L model(s)?

Damn almost makes me wish i never bout last year... oh wait no it dosent i love my toshiba too much

Are the dates you quoted dates for Canada or U.S.? I live in Vancouver and as you know, we get the new products last...just wondering if I should start to get excited?

Rick at worst you can say second to last cause I live in St John's, we get it all last... well maybe places like whitehorse or yellowknife are last but vancouver certainly is ahead of St John's.

Dan, yes the stand is very similar to that one. All the other models are one-piece units.

I'm glad I read the info before the spoiler took it away. Now we'll see how it plays out.

The 51H83 and 57H83 are both currently available at some Best Buy stores. Most stores don't have their display models yet, but the sets are ready to ship from the warehouse.

I occasionally see (retail) pricing included in a press release. But, out of curiosity, is there a rule of thumb for converting between between the list price and the price that I might find at Best Buy or Sears?

One year you might see an average of, say, 20% off, then the next year the manufacturer might squeeze the delta between dealer cost and MSRP.

I thought Best Buy always used the msrp for their price, like Crutchfield or Circuit City, unless there is a sale going on.
