Inspired by the Music Draft run by Cary T, I've decided to run a draft that's based on selecting songs.

Here are the selection rules
- six hour time limit for exclusive selections
- time limits effective on the weekends
- 1-16, 16-1 selection order
- no bootlegs

Actually, recordings are closer to the idea I have in my head. For example, "All Along the Watchtower". I can count at least three versions, and that's not counting the number of live versions.

So to clear any confusion when it comes to selection time, any version of any song is up for grabs. Of course, there's a catch: no bootlegs.

For an easy example, let's take Pearl Jam and their HUGE catalogue of live performances. A performance, from two different concerts, of "Yellow Ledbetter" would constitute two different picks.

Even though we're far from selection, go ahead and come up with a list of songs you want. And keep in mind the song you want, who performs it, and what rendition. The one thing you really want to keep in mind is that when you select something, make sure that it is readily available by any means (eg. KaZaa, your local Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc.) It's not a strict requirement per se, but you're only hurting yourself if you select something that only one or two people know about.

Re: The National Anthem
- Like I said, it's not selection time, but when it does come to the time, you also have to pick whose rendition we're basing our voting on (eg. Roseanne Barr's rendition ).

Hey, I'm in, thanks for asking me Dome.

I'm going to be putting up mp3s of all my songs. People may not like them, but at least they'll have a chance to hear them. They may not be classic, but I love them. I fully expect to go down in the first round (s'ok!) and I also know that my decision to not vote in these things is a bit...I don't know what people think, if they think about it at all...pompous or scuzzy or something. It's just a personal decision to not want to rain on anybody's parade, while knowing that that's part of the fun for some (I don't mean that in a nasty way). It's all fun!






An aside to any and everyone: If there's such a thing as an automatic player for Drafts, I'm it. Any Draft, any subject, unless it's something like "Favorite Women named Hester" (in which everybody else would almost certainly get all the ones I know about) but even then, throw it to me, and then I'll decide if I need to back out. I may be out of line asking this, but it depresses me when I look at the cool Drafts I didn't get in on.

Alright, I'm off to bed. I'll be gone from Thursday through Sunday, but I'll check in with the web periodically to make draft picks, check this thread, etc. etc.
