Being a member of the Forum for the past few years I thought it time to purchase the 25-31 CS+ from SVS and am I glad I did.
>
I found the crew and Tom V over at SVS very helpful and discreet "I can be a very naughty 43 year old boy when it comes to bass" down to the last detail and if I were to boil there service and product down to two words I would come up with (Honor) and (quality)........
>
I will admit to being the proud owner of a duel stacked Vel ct-150 con-fig and what I was really looking for was another bass option not so much of a upgrade. I have a corner close to seating that I decided to free up and place the CS+....But First!
>
When the brown van arrived I slide the Vel "I sold the other recently" out and the SVS in. I then proceeded to hook it up to my QSC 1450 amp and plug in the POD RACE. MMMMMMM....OK Steve lets calibrate (Thnx Geoff) it only takes a minute for a quickie. WOW! I knew right away that this was one formidable sub. Just for the sake of it I decided to see what I could do on the first Fly-By scene in STAR WARS II calibrated to 85-86 on the dgtl. What I came up with was 109--110 at -5 and as a comparison I could realize 110---111 with my duel stack Vels at -0 and that was there limit. This is basically a 30Hz scene to, so as the freq goes lower the CS+ keeps pulling away farther. This was done in my leaky R-F corner in my 24' X 12' HT with 10' ceilings.
>
As I have continued to view this past week the CS+ has impressed me all the more. SPL is only one good aspect of this sub. The quality of bass that comes out of this 12" driver is absolutely incredible. It makes my system sound like a million bucks and no I wont give it up Tom. This sub is here to stay. I should mention I did try the duel CS+--Vel stacked approach and that did not work out at all. What SVS has brought to my table should not be compromised.
>
With the CS+ on over in the back corner close to seating it has unveiled itself to a even fuller degree. IMO this sub has a whole lot of give and if you decide to run it on the hot side, chances are you will just get more of a good thing. This is definitely not a boomy sub. I have brought it up to a +6 db cal in both corners and with it on its side and in all circumstances it has performed beyond any of my expectations. A flat to +3 calibration is my preference though. With correction this is plenty imo.
>
This is one incredible sub that deserves all the attention it gets imo (Period). I know it has all been said before many times and allot better than my ability permits/ But hey', I need to say it to.
>
Thank you Tom V for your attentive help concerning this project and I will wear the shirts proudly. :emoji_thumbsup:

Sounds as though your enjoying at least at this time, your brand spanking new SVS's...

Running the single Velo (sold your oher) was tuff for you I know, you do like a very stong & clean bottom end in your theater.
The last month and a half must have killed you being so bass weak!
Hopefully along with the powerfull SVS, soon your other project will also arrive and your bass heaven (aha) will be finally complete, well for awhile anyway.
You know all to well how this hobby seems to go, no way out once your hooked......

With all who have already wrote, as you have, they do build excellent preforming products with just amazing service. Certainly taking a back seat to NO ONE in the business....Seen and heard it first hand with friends.

Maybe someday we'll own a real SVS!
Till then we will just to have live with our 2039 clone, and a couple sealed ones.:frowning:
To clone their 2039 design to the absoulte T, (less a real SVS logo) is the best form of flattery I would think, why change what you know works....
And they do definitly work! :D
Many thanks again to those who were kind enough to sell me their SVS drivers last year!
Won't mention their names but they know who they are.:emoji_thumbsup:

Glad your very happy with the new bass machine. And they take up so much less valuable floor space than those Velo's anyway.;) Stay in touch.....

Regards
Geoff

Hi Geoff, Good to see that your up and about today. When I started this little gig out I took a 18" round basket and put it behind the corner table I spoke about earlier and came up with an easy fit as long as I did not go over 34" high> (WAF) so this lead to the 25-31+ instead of the 20-39. The SVS being 16" in diameter afforded me some wiggle room. It really was a easy fit. Although I'm not crazy about hiding it, I have peace of mind that it is very close by. The other project you speak of I have no chance of hiding it away unless I were to park a car in front of it. I keep telling my wife big is good but all I here is "why did I marry you then"? I don't get it?;)

Yes the Vel was hard to sell but I needed the room and the $$ didn't hurt ether. I guess I'll be selling the other one now to. $375 to you door is a very good price for this unit imo. I see Threads all the time asking for a good priced middle of the road performing sub. I still think the Vel is a very good unit for what I payed. They served me very well.

I'll bet you a dollar that a logo will come your way sometime. Things happen you know.:emoji_thumbsup:

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the kind words about SVS customer service. We've learned long ago that worrying about the difference between 120dBs and 121dBs isn't worth a damn if aren't sweating every possible detail of customer support, 7 days a week :)

A single CS+ within a dB of dual CHT15s is pretty impressive...thanks for sharing that too!

I think you might have over looked something Tom? I was at -0 with the duel Vels and at -5 with the SVS. I could have pushed the 25-31+ a little more and taken out the duel. I didn't do a very good job of bringing that across. Now this is a 30 Hz scene to basically so as the freq gets lower the SVS will gain even more, much more and sound better doing it. I could have added the bass disk to the info but I figured I went on long enough.;)

Steve..haven't talked to you in a while. So you went for the 25-31PC+!!!! That's great! I choose that one for my Brother-in-Law in Tucson....and all he does is call me up and tell me how awesome the thing is. He has remarked that it even hit harder after a few weeks of "break-in!" Now when are you getting the second one?

Mr. Sloaner the duel VTF-3 Pilot. Yes it has been awhile. I remember when you did that and gave it a little test before you sent it off or you gave it a run on over at his house?
>
You know I think it might be hitting a little harder or I am just getting rattled. Better get the meter out! I would like a duel SVS setup very much but I need to get my AV15 from Brian Bunge of (Rutledge Audio) first. He just told me it will ship Wednesday. So after I receive that project I can start thinking how could I get away with bringing another sub into the house......... I could facetiously win one I guess? I dont know? I have herd great things about the AV15 and Brian's work. I know this SVS is one nice unit to. I should have plenty but when I use the SVS-// duel would be a very nice option. It will get the best of me I'm sure. It is quite incredible what one of these can do though.

Good to here from you Mike and if you have any new pics send'm on over. What's new over there. I know you have something going. I think it was some fancy receiver last go around?

Yes they were both calibrated the same >85-86 db.(same settings and location, I know better) I did try to push the Vel's farther but to no avail. There limiters were kicking in and preventing any further gain. I did not try to run the SVS on the hot side to see how much more I could get out of it though. IMO I was asking and was getting enough out of the one sub in that leaky corner.

I think you can count on me to be one of those repeaters Tom. I'LL BE BACK!
