Forrest Gump was on tonight and I thought I would see how the sound was through my home theater receiver. Would I get surround sound or just stereo, and would the sound be as crisp as from a DVD ? I have an analog audio connection from my Samsung STB to the TV, and an optical connection from the STB to the receiver. I got the stereo sound output from the TV, but no output at all from the optical connection to the receiver. I checked my optical cable and all seemed fine. Am I missing something obvious, or should I have been able to at least get stereo sound from my optical connection to the receiver ? (I hope my Samsung STB is not defective).
