The volumes on the speakers of my 5.1 system are all over the place. (I bought the demo that they had at the store to save a few bucks) Any recommendations as to what the volumes of my center, front R andL's as well as my rear channels should be set at? I want a really balanced mix.
Thanks.

All the same?

You can't just go by the numbers... At the very least go through the test tones on your receiver, or disc, and set the levels by ear. Sit in your usual spot and go through it a few times.

A better and more accurate way of doing it is to buy an SPL meter from Radio Shack. Then there is no doubt as to the accuracy. The meter is also very useful in setting up a subwoofer, as the lower frequencies are harder to hear. And its almost impossible to get it set to the same level using your ear.
