What are your opinions of this piece? I can pick a floor model up for about $455.00. Just think it would be an inexpensive way to get into seperates.

Slightly dated but a nice price for this unit. Downside for many would be 5.1 only or 6.1 matrixed with the latest upgrade and no analog straight pass unless you add the TAP-9000. By todays standards, this would be considered a high quality minimalist pre/pro and worthy of consideration at the stated price. If you are also getting the standard 5 year warranty, the bargain is even better.

You can use the Sony DA4ES as a pre-pro and get all the sound quality plus the latest features for $150 more. The E9000ES is a great unit, but it will definately show its age.

A good deal if your primary goal is a good price.

The Sony is dated, lacking many features and functions availabe on more recent units.

Its sound tends to be forward (bright), so careful matching with other system components is warranted to avoid going too far in that direction.

Those caveats understood, it's an excellent deal at that price.
