Have any of you seen this website?

He basically comes to the conclusion that the more frequently you use your account, the less likely you are to get a high demand movie.

I'm fine if Netflix wants to allocate rentals that way, but they should disclose it to their customers.

A few comments:
1. This probably should be anywhere else but here (Regional DVD), I don't thing Netflix rents anything other than R1 and R0.

2. The person that did the website site: Get A Life:D .

3. Without going through everything in detail (I do have a semi life ;) ), it's not obvious to me the advantage of not sending "hot/current" titles to high volume renters. As the higher the volume, the less likely you will keep the "hot/current" title for long, and hence the DVD gets more "turn". If a "hot/current" DVD goes to a "low volume" renters, it may sit at the person's home for a month.

4. Finally, how a company manages it's inventory and goods is pretty fluid, what MAY be true last month may not be true today and it may be true again 2 months down the road. I was one of the earliest Netflix subscribers quite a number of years ago, and they used to throw out all kinds of different subscription plans, presumably just to see what works.

I think it's just random. I'm actually having the reverse situation. It's the older or less mainstream titles that I seem to be waiting for. For example, "Fast and the Furious" was available immedeatly, but I'm still waiting on the 70s "Romeo and Juliet".

You're right. I guess I missed the "regional" in the "regional DVD area". :frowning: Is there a way I can move it?

3 - Good point, but I think NetFlix has found that low volume renters are more likely to cancel. Thus, they always want to make them as happy as possible by giving them their first choice.

I've been through this. I was renting about 12 movies a month, which is almost as high volume as you can go. I literally would watch them the night they arrived and ship them out the next day.

Within 4 months, the membership became totally useless. Virtually everything I put in was 'long wait' or 'very long wait'. I cancelled and rejoined under a different email address, and instantly all of those titles that I couldn't get before were 'available now'.

They obviously don't want me as a customer.
