Anyone ever really bought a car for $500 from a govn't seizure? (1 Viewer)

I always see those commericials were you can order the catalog to find out where you can buy repoed cars for $500 to $1000. I was just wondering if anyone ever did this and how did it turn out?

Make sure the bloodstains and chalk outlines have already been removed before purchasing!

Oh, and it is probably best that you get background information on the previous "owners" of the car. You want to make sure gangsters won't think it belongs to a rival group, and offer a free drive-by shooting!

This has probably happened once and therefore we, the consumer, cannot claim it to be the false advertising that it is. And, IMO, if you do score a $500 car, it will be a $500 car. Ok, maybe $525.

Okay, here's the deal with those auctions. You might be able to get a car for $500, but just like Bill says, it is going to be a $500 car.

Don't expect to go in and find a Dodge Viper for $500, because there are plenty of other people just like yourself who are there looking for deals, and they bid against each other, driving up the price of the vehicle. So, while you might find a good deal, it's not likely you're going to get any huge discount.

Collectors and car dealers go to those things all the time, and they have a considerably larger budget to spend on these vehicles, so I wouldn't hold your breath trying to find a true steal.
