Lee, I had started a thread about this player awhile back. I believe Sony announced it awhile ago. Let's see if Sony replaces the 'XA777ES in the US with this model. Hopefully it will also be at least as good as the 'XA777ES. Sony has a rep to protect when it comes to the flagship model.

I read a blurb in either the current S&V or maybe HT Mag that Sony is/has indeed looked at doing a universal player... I'd be interested in even a good $1000-1250 CD/SACD (no DVD-V) player too though... But not quite this one.

Kevin, I'd be surprised if Sony were to do a universal player. Of course, money talks, and Sony should realize that it's major competitors, except for Matsushita, have released universal players. With the Denon DVD-2900 coming out for $1000 and looking to be a very strong component, the DVP-NS999ES is looking a bit antiquated with just SACD.
