This may seem simple, but I can't find the answer. We a thinking of getting either Directv or Dish, and are outside all of the "local" regions (for local channels.) While we can live with this, we wonder which major network (ABC,NBC, CBS, Fox) feeds we will get - if any. By the way, we live in WA State. Can anyone answer this question? Thanks,
JP

Jim,

If Dish or DirecTV does not broadcast your locals, you will have to get a waiver from your local network affilliates to get the national network feeds from them. This is virtually impossible if you are in the least capable of getting your locals on cable or with an over-the-air antenna.

DirecTV is adding about 50 more markets to it's local station offerings by the end of the year, and little Fresno is one of them. Possibly they'll be adding your area too.

I prefer not to push the subwoofers until they're properly run in.

If your waivers were granted, you would get the big 4 from LA. If you live within 150 to 200 miles of a city that gets their locals over satellite, then "moving" would be a better deal. You would get the big 4 networks plus UPN and WB and maybe some other local channels. And you don't have to sell your house to do it. After getting your system, you can change your service address to the city that you want the locals from but keep your billing address where you live. Just make sure you pick an address that doesn't have satellite service now. The easiest is to pick a real apartment complex but give them a fake apt. number. This system works great with DirecTV but I'm not really sure about Dish.

Get DirecTV and the Hughes HDVR2 (aka DirecTivo).
