Hi all,

Just went to my local EB games and preordered Brute Force and Enter the Matrix today, and had high hopes of checking out the Ultimate Halo companion that comes with the pre order of Brute Force, and the Making of DVD that comes with Enter the Matrix. But upon asking the staff, they were oblivious to any such giveaways existing. Has anyone else here preordered and received the above mentioned disks? If not, anyone know when they will be available?? Than much.

The Enter the Matrix discs are not yet available and will more than likely not be hitting retail until a tad later this month (as far as some retail friends of mine have told me).

The Making of Halo DVD is however readily available at most EB's and Gamestop's (I picked one up last week) in my area so I would imagine it would be so for most other areas as well.

I saw the videos for Matrix and I was a lot more impressed than I thought I would be. I'm most likely gonna get the console since a 2-disc version is going to be a lot cheaper than a 6 disc PC version. Either way, I think I'll wait for the reviews first

Actually I just preordered the 6 disc PC version for a whopping 39.99 as compared to the 49.99 console versions.;)

Also the amount of discs included is really is going to have little bearing on the price of the game. For the most part you'll be able to find the PC version for the same price as the console incarnations. (though I do wish they would have considered a DVD release for the PC version to go along with the 6-disc release.)

What is really boggling is the huge installs for some of these recent games. Metal Gear Solid 2 on the PC has a minimum install of 3.8gigs and a full install of a ridiculous 7.6gig.

Enter the Matrix is listed as having a minimum install of 4.7gig. Now this kind of thing doesnt really bother me much as I have a ton of hard drive space but those are some huge installs! I would imagine a great many folks would pass up the PC version to save themselves the hard drive space alone!

Indeed. I'd guess that the specialist box costs more than printing five extra CDs in bulk. And the PC doesn't have a Sony/Microsoft licence fee, so it *should* be cheaper... ALL PC games should be slightly cheaper than console titles, but that's politics :)

I guess I can't believe everything I read on the internet since I got the PC version costing more from bluesnews.com

Is Brute Force gonna be playable online? I'll probably give Wolfenstein a go and this looked good also.

The reason for this is because no one enjoys swapping discs during gameplay.

Wow - that's spooky. I downloaded a "making of"-style video for the Matrix game yesterday & it really reminded me of the early FMV games, but I couldn't remember the name Sewer Shark.

I don't know if it is old or recent footage, but here's the link for anyone that is interested. Hopefully it's just a poor video, but it left me with a bad feeling about the game.

Im well aware of the why's Brian. In the case of Enter the Matrix the need to install 4.7gigs of data makes some semblance of sense and is something I find (for the most part) acceptable. In fact as mentioned above, I have the PC version on preorder.

My comment was more suprise above all else to see such large install figures for two relatively recent high profile games and how that might impact some folks buying decisions. The need does however become even more apparent considering the amount of actual movie footage that will be interspersed throughout the Enter the Matrix game. No doubt those of us who buy the PC version want to have these pieces of the Matrix story in as good a quality as possible. That inevitably takes space.

However your point becomes moot when you take Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance into account as the PC version resides on one DVD. No disc swapping necessary. Yet it will still cost you a good 7.6gig worth of hard drive space (Even the minimum as mentioned is around the 4 gig mark.). A fairly ridiculous amount of space IMHO and it just reeks of a lazy "hand-me-down" port with little care taken in moving it over to the PC platform (as if the references to the Xbox controller buttons wasnt enough;)). Though of course Infogrames/Shiny has nothing to do with that title so I'm just ranting here...:D

Romier, I hear what you're saying. The install size for Metal Gear is quite large, and yes, it's getting a bit rediculous.
