I found this thread while poking around rec.arts.movies.past-films, and thought the lists presented were fascinating. Here are some of them.

Interesting lists. Of course, it would probably be more interesting to see what their hated films would be.

Very interesting. However, I was disappointed to see no list by Alfred Hitchcock. It would be interesting to know what films The Master was fond of.

Good point, Dome. Or it would be interesting to see what their DVD collections consist of (those who are still living at least).

Interesting indeed. Every list consists of a couple of true classics, but every single one is still very personal (except for John Woo's - who's list did he steel?). What's also interesting to see is that nobody becomes a great film maker without watching a loooot of films. It's evident that all of these fellows have done so.
