Please forgive what may be a really stupid question, but I just don't know the answer myself. Since my new Mits has built in line doubling, will I see an improvement in the PQ with a progressive scan DVD player?

A good progressive scan dvd player will give you a better picture than the set internal line doubler

Jim, Mitsubishi HDTVs are renowned for thier presentation of 480p from DVDs. Its one of the reasons to own one. That being said if you want a beautiful accurate stable film like image then pick up one of the <$250 progressive players. The difference on your TV is nothing short of astounding. Otherwise you'll be relying on your TVs analog-digital-analog conversion and you'll see things like poor text, lack of sharpness, jagged lines, etc. <---mits owner.
