My Toshisba TW65H80, which I have had since May 2000, has suddenly developed a very strange case of picture warp. The only way I can describe it is that it looks like the "smilebox" matte that's been proposed for Cinerama films (butterfly shaped)...it seems much more pronounced when watching 2:35 films, but barely noticeable with 1:85 films...also, the extreme edges of the screen are tinged in blue and red. I've tried adjusting convergence, but it didn't work.

I Have an extended warranty but The Good Guys techs won't be able to come over for a week(of course I hoping its not-fixable so I get a new set!). Does anyone here have any clues of what might be wrong?

John,

Sounds like something happened to the convergence board on your set. It will be something fixable if this is the case. Did you ever perform any service level convergence adjustments?

David--thx for the reply.

No, I have never done service level convergence adjustments, only the 9-point convergence available from the main menu.
