contrast vs sharpness (1 Viewer)

have a 32" sony plasma, which i constantly try to tweak. i'm confused about the difference between the contrast and sharpness settings. i'm aware that i don't want the contrast maxed out, but what about the sharpness?

Sharpness is artificial edge enhancement, and is generally avoided. High or low sharpness will have no ill effects on your set. High contrast will cause burn-in.
