Has anyone found WSB 2K3 for rent anywhere? (1 Viewer)

Blockbuster and Hollywood Video had listed this title on their websites but it is not available in their stores. I have not found it for rent elsewhere either. This reminds me of the current Fifa soccer game which is not available for rent in the Rochester, NY area either. Has anyone else found these titles for rent in their area? I'm wondering if the game manufacturers are testing not allowing the titles to be rented to see how sales would go? Who knows-it seems strange that the Fifa games had always been available to rent before and all the other Sega Sports games have been available as well.

I couldn't find it at the Blockbusters in my area when I was looking to rent it last month, so I just ended up buying it at EB and was not disappointed. Worse comes to worse, buy it at EB or Gamestop(be sure to make sure that policy about exchanging an opened game for another title is still valid at the particular location) and if you're unhappy with it you can swap it for something else. I wasn't able to find HH 2004 for rental either at Blockbuster so i was utterly amazed when I saw MVP Baseball there.
Come to think of it, they didn't have many sega sports games at my local blockbuster. I didn't see NHL 2k3 or NCAA Baseketball 2k3 either.

I'm glad EB changed their return policy and it's for this exact reason. I'm sorry you can't find the game to rent, but why should someone else have to buy a used game at new prices because you decided to buy it and didn't like it? Hopefully Gamestop will change their policy also.

Buy WSB2K3. It's a great game. Sure, it's got some problems(all sports games do) but nothing that makes this a rental only.

I have been a fan of High Heat and have played all the baseball games this year except WSB 2K3. I have heard good things about WSB 2K3 but only have the money to buy one. If I am unable to rent WSB 2K3 in the next week or so, I plan to buy High Heat. This is why renting is so important. So one can make the decision based on one's own preferences, not someone elses. It's too bad EB or Gamestop did not have a rental system-it could make them money and the return policies they have had in the past would not have been used as a rental option.

Rudy,
no one's forcing them to shop at EB. They can go buy it at Best Buy for all I care. Also, if they do have a problem with it, then they can ask for a sealed copy. I'm not one of those people who'd abuse it so I'm glad they offered it. It's probably made them money i the long run by giving people a reason to get a questionable title. In the end, you don't like the policy, don't shop there. Simple as that.
Bob,
That's an excellent idea about EB renting games. I totally would have rented a copy of WSB and High Heat from them if given the option. Then I'd have willingly paid for a new game at full price or perhaps bought a rental copy at a discount. While I agree with Rudy about the whole getting a used game, I've never bought a game at EB that wasn't still sealed with the manufacturers sticker on it. I get the feeling that if I did get one I could easily ask for another copy without hastle or just not buy it.

I think we all know that the general public isn't as informed as most of the people on this board are, and probably have no clue that EB sells used games as brand new. I know better and check all games purchased at EB and Gamestop for the factory seal when I purchase a game. I've been given re-wrapped games and asked for a factory sealed one with no hassles, but others have reported having trouble doing so. Now with the new policy, I and others no longer have to worry about it. Big :emoji_thumbsup: to EB, now hopefully Gamestop gets on board.

I still think that in the end it's doing more harm than good. As I said before, I'm more likely to give EB my business if I've been unable to play the game. Even if I happen to dislike it I can get soemething else on the off chance the game totally sucks. I do research my purchases before hand but sometimes you just don't like a game and that can't be easily forseen. I'm much less likely to give EB my business now because frankly, if the price at Best Buy or Circuit City is the same if not less, why in the world wouldn't I buy from them if I won't be able to return it on the off chance that I won't like it at EB. As I said before, there have been times when I've been unsure of a game and purchased it at EB and ended up loving it. There's been a time or two that I've not liked a game(and this is since like 5th grade when I had a genesis) and swapped it for something else. If EB wants to change it's policy, that's fine but I definately think that I'm less likely to buy from them now. Oh well atleast I won't have to deal with the nerdy gamer types that frequent there ;)
At any rate, Half.com is the best thing ever for me. If I finish a game and am not compelled to play it again, I can usually recoup the cost minus the cost of a rental or two which is damn good.
