I'm a big fan of your website and have been reading
through the message boards over the last few months
(though I've just recently registered I feel as if I'm
already familiar with your community). I wanted to let
you know that I have tickets to an upcoming test
screening of FREDDY VERSUS JASON this Wednesday, April
16th in Redondo Beach, California. I will be attending
this screening and wanted to know if you would be
willing to accept a spoiler free review of the movie
(nothing revealing, just a basic idea of how good or
bad it is). I would really like to contribute if
possible. Also, if you know anyone that lives in the
Los Angeles area who is interested in seeing the film
this week... let me know. I have a good number of
passes available.
I thought i'd pass this along, for those that want to see it.:)
Keep in mind that it's a test screening,so expect to see actors reacting funny against a blue background in some parts.Heh.

I have never in my life thought I would be dreading a Jason movie so much as I am this one. I am afraid that the direction that I have heard this goes will have me thinking that Friday 5 was a Hitchcock classic...

I feel like I've been through a time warp.

Last news I heard about this movie (February), they were still trying to cast certain parts.

Now we apparently have a rough cut that's in sufficient stages of finality to have a test screening?

This has got to be one of the biggest rush jobs ever if they've completed casting, filming, and editing all in just about one month.

I have a bad feeling about this. I read an article about this movie in the April issue of Premiere magazine and was mortified! I mean come on, Jason WORKING for Freddy so that Freddy can continue killing!? What is that?

I also have a big problem with Yu not casting Kane Hodder as Jason. Kane IS Jason as far as i'm concerned! Kane must be so disappointed, he loves playing Jason so very much, I feel genuinly bad for him folks. :frowning: Well, at least Robert Englund's back as the razor gloved one.

Well, I've been following production very closely. To clear things up, filming began in September and ended sometime in November. Not Feb, as you claim.

And here is the latest picture to hit the net, thanks to empiremovies.com...

I don't think Jason is working for Freddy voluntarily lol. From what I read Freddy appears to Jason as his mother and tricks him into killing. Jason somehow finds out he's been duped and the battle ensues. I love that teaser poster. It's simple but less is more.

Were there any reviews from that Test Screening?
Sean Cunningham and Bob Shaye were both in attendance. I know this because they both had their seats marked so no one else would sit in them. They have to be pleased with how this screening went. It went terrificly. At the focus group, we all agreed that the premise seems hokey, but it is pulled off in such a great way, you really buy it! It doesn't come off as cheesy. I can't wait to see this again.

As for the music, it was a mixture of Nightmare on Elm Street music, and Friday music from parts 3, 9, and a few others."

Here's another...

"Okay,... just got back from the screening. Final thoughts? It was good, I really enjoyed it. There was enough of both characters to keep the fans (like myself) happy and the audience was eating it up! Lots of cheers for this movie... everyone was chanting Freddy's name right before the lights went down (sorry, there was very little cheer for Jason... at least from where I was sitting). Lots of fun, definitely the kind of movie I've waited to see for a long time. Oh, big surprise... Kelly Rowland is NOT the new Busta Rhymes (though she did use the F-word a little too often), the girl was my biggest fear and she pulled it off pretty well. All of the actors did pretty well in the movie. I did have a few minor problems but nothing that would keep me from seeing the film again on the big screen. I promised I wouldn't spoil anything and I plan to stick to that out of respect for the fans and the people who run this site. There are some moments of pure genius that you guys have to see with fresh eyes (if anyone else saw the film tonight... please try to control the spoilers). I will say something that is probably going to piss a few people off... how do it put this lightly? Well,... if Kane Hodder was to hang up his hockey mask and retire, I would be more than happy to see Ken return as Jason. The man is an absolute BEAST in this movie, I mean he is one brutal motherfucker!! Some last bits of interest: Visually this movie resembles a cross between JASON LIVES and NEW NIGHTMARE, it just has that look and feel to it. Temp music was some stuff from Mark Isham's BLADE score. Movie ran about 1 hour, 45 minutes. Got to meet Bob Shaye and Sean Cunningham after the movie. :)"

And a third one simply said...

"It was worth the wait. Period.

Exsquisite."

There were also three other ones posted on www.aint-it-cool-news.com a week ago or so. All of those were positive as well.

I dig the poster! :emoji_thumbsup:

Nice to see some enthusiastic responses from the test screening. At the very least this one could be a real treat for longtime fans.

You know what guy's, i'm starting to do a 180 on this movie, especially after reading that Jason is being tricked into doing Freddy's bidding, that makes mre sense and is WORLDS better than what Premiere made it out to sound like.

At this rate, give me a couple of more weeks and a finished trailer and i'll be onboard all the way. :)

Also, that poster will be worth more than anyone suspects, for the first time since A Nightmare on Elm Street when Fred sprang out from behind the tree to kill Tina...his glove is on his left hand! :D

hehe. The glove was on his left hand on the VHS box art for Nightmare 2.

A lot of people have asked about this. For the teaser poster design to work, Freddy's gotta be on the left side and jason on the right, otherwise it would read "Jason vs Freddy". And since he's on the left, and the glove has to be on the poster, it was placed on the left hand. But since it's happened before (Nightmare 2) it's not that big of a deal to me. :) Freddy's a righty in the movie.
