I was at Best Buy yesterday and came across some Advent televisions in the 27 - 36" range for pretty good prices.

I was hoping someone had some experience or knowledge with these televisions.

It seemed to me that their picture was not as vibrant as, say a Toshiba sitting right next to it, but that could simply be a matter of calibrating.

Thanks!!!!

Robert,

Advent was a very well-regarded mfg of speakers 15-20 years ago.

It would appear that rights to the name have been bought out by some Chinese or possibly Korean company of late which is cashing in on the good reputation. Unless someone knows who the actual mfg is, and has had experience with some of their other brands of product, no track record exists on these.

Another sad and sorry piece of electronics trying to mask cheap build quality with a glorious name from the past. Don,t waste your time or hard earned cash. Unless BB gives you a ridiculously low price and don,t expect too much from the unit, I think you will be severely disappointed in the long run. These are not good units. Anyone is allowed to sell them. I have even seen them for sale at Menards and a local supermarket! Do you really think your local Piggly Wiggly store purchaser knows how to stock quality AV equipment? If you need a modestly priced analog set I'd try either Sharp or Phillips/Magnovox. Both will give you a much better picture and added reliability. In fact, I have seen some Sharps go over 20 years without a glitch. I have several of them around the house for noncritical viewing, some for up to 10 years and have never had a problem. Good luck.

Thanks guys.....

I found that it IS a chinese company called Prima? They have been selling in Canada for about 5 years now and are trying to get into the States market. According to their Rep, they have had a very good history in Canada.

That is as much as I found out.

Later.
