upgrade time (1 Viewer)

I am currently upgrading just about everything... here is the current setup followed by the new setup... Please recommend speakers in the 1k 1.5k range for all 5.

Current
Reciever Sony DE-STR945
SUB - PB12
Speakers 4 N-24s and 1 N-Center

Upgrading
Marantz 7300 & 3 Mono Blocks for the front soundstage
Sub - SVS
Speakers - Was thinking some nice JBL S-Series or Klipsch R Series.

Please advise...

My thoughts: Everything looks great, except for the JBL --> JBL upgrade. Now that you have a solid start with the N series, I would upgrade to higher quality speakers a pair at a time (rather than buying 5 lower priced speakers all at once). That could mean replacing the mains & CC with Paradigm Studio 20s and CC, then when the money tree blooms again, moving the 20s to the rear and buying Studio 60s for mains duty. I'm partial to Paradigm, but any of the well-respected manufacturers would do.

I just walked a friend through purchasing the Marantz 7300 (I'll be checking for hiss when the drywalling in his basement is done), and while I don't have an SVS, I think the overwhelming support for them on this thread makes it a good decision.
